I detest the trade system---Some idea's

For those that love to sit for hours spamming trade channel and/or forums this current system is ideal. I however would much prefer to spend my time playing the game than spending hours trying in vain to find something I need in trade.

To me the trade system is fast becoming a game-breaker, although I would also not want it to be anything like d3 AH system where you simply search and hit a button to get what you want.


Idea is an in between system

A searchable ingame Trade station.

Every player gets one tab where they can put anything in they wish to trade. Items stay in that tab for 24 hours and are then moved back into the players bank. if there is not enough room they go into a remove only tab for a period of 6 hours online gameplay time and are then deleted (after plenty of highly visible warning). This is to cut down on people simply using the trade tab as a way to generate remove only tabs. Alternate is to 'red flag' an item in the trade tab and remove it from trade list. To cut down on server load on this, any item put into trade tab can not be removed / put back in for x period of time. Item it traded out directly from trade tab in same way as it would be from inventory tab.


Trade station ingame would then use the trade tabs to generate a tradables list.


This list is not an AH, but you can search it etc and message the person who has the item you wish to trade for. Possibly be able put in a minimal trade on the searchable list for the item so it cuts down on people simply tagging it to try get a trade value for something they are selling.

So if I seen a ring I wanted. I could then 'tag it' and the person could contact me when they were online again so we can discuss the trade. Seller would then be notified when they went back to their stash that there was a trade tag available for them to reply to.

So not a direct AH, but a much simpler way for people to set up trades without having to chew around with a forum (I hate forums) or endure the endless spam of junk in the trade channel which is rarely worth even looking at.


PLEASE rethink this trade system, I love the game, but for someone who does not have the time or inclination to spend hours trying to trade things it is a serious issue. I'm at 50+ stash tabs now and most of it is tradable, I'm just not spending days ad nauseum trying to find a buyer with the current system.

make a thread on the trade forum and by the time you've posted it and refreshed the page, its already on page 3 and is never seen again unless you bump it up every hour, with the same result.

Trade channel is just not even worth trying to use for trade as everyone and his sheepdog in there just endlessly links every bit of vendor trash in their inventory and its useless to try find what your looking for.

GGG already stated that they are going to have public stash tabs similar to what you propose.

On top of that, instead of hunting for the player online, you'll be able to conduct business via the website.


They NEED to get that on to a manifesto, though.


The current trade system only exists beacuse it's a placeholder: Either a broken one to tide over until a proper one is made or no trading at all until they get it done.

I guess much of the ideas coming through regarding trading system boils down to making a list of items traded, and making it easier to message the person who trade the particular item. I hope GGG implements this soon.

Thank you for posting this...I totally agree with you on this...and its good to know that GGG is planning some sort of thing in the future...any Dev comment on this would be fantastic :)
