POE2 - Insanely high ping every few seconds

I'm using WiFi (can't use cable in this apartment). Tried wall outlet Adapters and it resulted in worse connection. So, I'm stuck with WiFi. And this only happens to POE2 (didn't try on POE1), my other games works just fine.

I did a WinMTR and here is the output: https://pastebin.com/UnRzgJha
At hop 5, I get above 73% package loss.

This is what I get almost every few seconds.

Provider: Odido (Used to be under the name TMobile)
Speed: 1Gbit
Country: Netherlands

Now, what should I do?

It seems like you're using a cellular carrier for internet. There are so many variables that could come into play that would dramatically impact your gaming performance overall on a cellular/wireless carrier connection.

I would suggest having some kind of local technical support come out and test your network. I know it may seem like it's only on a single game but this kind of issue has more likely culprits on your end then on the game's.

Off the top of my head:

1. Make sure the carrier isn't throttling your connection due to some kind of plan limit.
2. Verify if the issues only happen at a particular time of day, etc.

Best of luck my friend!

Thank you for the WinMTR log.

Unfortunately, the issue is caused by your WiFi connection. It is possible that changing the wireless channels used by your router may help. If you look at the log, not a single hop - not even your router in your own home - shows 100% of echo requests receiving a response. This is what is artificially causing latency spikes; each time data gets lost in transit, the game client has to wait for an acknowledgment, then accept one isn’t going to come, then try re-sending the same data.

Path of Exile’s net code has never handled packet loss particularly gracefully.

Hop #5 is not significant. It is a router which exists to forward on your internet traffic; not a game server you play on. We don’t care whether it throttles its responses to you, we care about the state of traffic on later hops. It is not materially altering your latency or packet loss, so it’s doing its job fine. The router could literally report 100% packet loss without impacting your ability to play PoE.

Alright, I will try changing the Channels and see how it goes.

Edit: I scanned WiFi channels nearby, 50 seems empty at the moment of testing.
I still get the massive spike with 5Ghz on, whilst with 2.4Ghz, the duration is much lower, but still spike.

DFS channel (Channel: 52~140), I selected Channel 40. 36 is the lowest and goes in incremental of 4 to channel 64.

The modem isn't even far away from me. There is just one concrete wall (doorway) and one plaster wall between my PC and the modem.
