CI + Zealoth's Oath + Cyclone Marauder || 1h/Shield
CI + Zealoth's Oath Cyclone Marauder - 1h/Shield
Introduction: Chaos Innoculation? Marauder?? Cyclone??? 1h/Shield???? Are you insane!? No. It's shocking as it's an uncommon build, but it's very solid and the dps output is very good as well. Nevertheless, it requires a quite consierable currency investment in roder to shine. That is to say, do not try this build as your first option if you are new to Path of Exile. The build is something different, and will msot likely bring new fresh air for those who start to get bored of their usual build, like me with my Standard LA Ranger. The Build: Pros: *54% melee and ranged block chance. *12% spell block chance. *10,000 armor (40% physical dmg mitigation). *You heal 400 ES every time you block. *Solid resits: 85% Fire, 90% Cold, 85% Lightning, 100% Chaos. *6000-7000 Energy Shield. *150/200 ES regenerated per second, without cooldown. *3000-5000 dps cyclone. *Your Marauder goes in pijama. Cons: *The serious desync with Cyclone+Multistrike. GGG will end up solving this. *Once you trigger Cyclone, you loose control over your character and you have to wait for it to end in order to loot items. Avoid public games, you will get ninjaed. You can see a full summary of the build in this link. Progress with the passives: Until lv 68, when we will equip our 700+ES Vall Regalia, we need to avoid deaths, so we need to invest in life node at early stages. The next step is to go straight to Iron Reflexes and Inner Force. At lv 68, we take out all the points in life node and invest them in Chaos Innoculation, ES nodes and shield block. Don't worry, the 18 refund points we get from the quests is enough, no need to use Orbs of Regret. Next we invest in mana nodes, some more ES nodes, and Celerity. Finally, we invest in dmg nodes. Step by step, it would be like this: Lv 36 - We take life nodes. Lv 61 - Towards Iron Reflexes. Lv 68 - The crucial point. We take out life and get CI and shield block passives. Lv 80 - Mana and Nullification. Lv 86 - At 86, the build is almost done. Lv 90 - We add damage. ¿Why Marauder? Simply becouse it provides the nodes we need with the minimum passive investment. If somebody hates the Marauder, the Templar would be the second best option. ¿Zealoth's Oath with 1 life? Yes, life regen with Zealoth's Oath take the max ES instead of max life to calculate regen rate. ¿Life nodes with CI, a waste? Not that much. First, we need to get to those life regen nodes. On the other hand, tatus ailments (shock, burning, frozen, stun) are very related to max life. Even with 1 maximum life, PoE takes the llife you would have if you hadn't take CI. ¿CI without Unwavering Stance nor Eye of Chayula? Yes, Cyclone gives us stun imminuty while active, and US is too much of an investment in passive points; Eye of Chayula bans our use of much improving amulets. Equipment: As I mentioned earlier, this build is not for everyone due to its expensiveness. A 330 dps physical 1 hander can go up for 6 exalted. A Vaal Regalia with inteligence or mana and dual/triple resists, 700+ ES goes for 5L = 6-9 exalted orbs; 6L = 13-20 exalteds. We will also need a 5% mana leech. No need for life leech as the 10% from Blood Rage is enough:
Spoiler
Mandatory items: This is our main safeguard. CI is weak in status ailment management. Cannot be frozen is a must. What better than a Howl? Advisable items: A boost to our dps. Spell block, resists, all resists, movement speed, high ES. What else? My gear, so to take an idea of what you would need (you can go with a worse weapon).
Spoiler
Gemas, skills: We are able to use any kind of gem regarless their STR, INT or DEX requiremts:
Spoiler
Primary Skill: in our Vaal Regalia Cyclone Faster Attacks Melee Physical Damage - In case of 5L, avoid this gem. Multistrike Concentrated Effect Increased Area of Effect Secondary skill: in gloves Double Strike / Heavy Strike Faster Attacks Melee Physical Damage Multistrike Auras: in Alpha's Howl Purity Hatred Grace Reduced Mana - Warning, quality bonus does not apply to auras. Auras: in Aegis Aurora Discipline] Haste - If your mana lets you. Reduced Mana - Warning, quality bonus does not apply to auras. Curses etc: in boots Enfeeble / Temporal Chains Blood Rage Faster Casting Increased Duration Flasks: Granite Flask: 95%-100% extra armor, charge recovery Granite Flask: 95%-100% extra armor, charge recovery Ruby Flask: Dispels Burning, charge recovery Topaz Flask: Dispels Shocked, charge recovery Quicksilver Flask: Dispels Bleeding, extra charges Comments: Until you convert to CI at lv 68, things can get quite heavy in merciless, we have 2k health and -60% resits most likely, so don't hesitate to ask for rushes to your friends. Also, don't get demotivated if you happen to die a lot in the pre-68 levels, once you convert to CI, the situation completely changes and you will love it. Hello, i really like the idea looks like lots of fun
Since i happen to have a lv 4x Duelist with no Skill points allocated (i dunno got reseted since they messed with the duelist tree?) i was toying around and this came up :

http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgQBBS0FtQx9Dq0QfxR1FdcY2xzcHRQegSFgJ9Un7Sj6KaUrCiy_MHwyCUCgQ2NDnEZxRwZLjVFHUWBT31ZjWNtY9VnzXzlfamBLZp5xTXKpdEF07XTxd9d673zZfyt_xoTZhO-Gro2_j0aP-pMnlSCZK5rPm4OdxJ65pwiplavFrKqsr7QMtMW3MbiTvYHAGsEAwcXC7MNtw4bEWMaeypDXhtvn3ePnkevu7BjvTvPd98H60v8c
basically it is the same build like yours (68) the only real difference is this one here got one less body and soul node in it which i try to compensate with berserking and diamond skin and a little bit of block what do you think? when i take the 2nd body and soul node it is almost the same except a duelist version of the build just...i would need 4 points more than you invested. however i would gain 1% more hp(es) regen than the marauder version (1.4%) purely theroycrafting here just let me know what you think p.s. i would really to love see that working on witch but i guess that would be pushing it | |
" It will work, but keep in mind that this build is quite narrow as regards passive skill points, so 4 more is quite an effort. Also, sacrificing 20% armor, 20% ES and 10% all resists in one single passive point for 15% IAS and 5% more all resists in several points doesn't sound like a fair trade (although I love Berserking), specially when you use Multistrike. On the other hand, it is true that you gain 1.1% more HP (ES) regen when compared to the mara version, which is certainly very nice, and an extra block, maybe if you exchange the mana nodes in the centre of the tree for the ones of the duelist (Mana Flows IIRC) your alternate version might even in passive investment (although for a little bit less mana, and bare in mind that cyclone is mana heavy - 230ish per cast 6L). Also, the only ES pieces we wear will be the chest, and gloves boots and shield, so the 20% less if you sacrifice Body and Souyl will be quite a hit. It's basically more tanky version (mara) vs more dps (duelist), whichever you prefer. IGN Rampage = Petral_Throw

What kind of 1-h do you use/prefer? Would you ever use a dagger?
<Stupid Question omitted> What about bandit rewardS? What do you think? Why did you not go for the 30% all resist from just having a shield? Or Diamond skin? With those uniques, it would be quite easy to maintain max resist. 8% blocks under the Elemental Equilibrium? I really like this build, it is a mix of many ideas I love, but I just want to understand it be more. Stay awhile and listen... Last edited by SmallestGriff on May 9, 2013, 11:04:23 PM
