New guy with a question.

Hi everyone, complete noob here.

I'm a die-hard turn-based CRPG and strategy game guy.

However, I watched the POE2 reveal stream and that looked pretty slick, so I thought, hey, why not and got myself an EA pack.

In order to get my feet wet, I started playing a bit of POE1 and while I'm not far along (level 10 or so), I do have a question.

Is there a way to "unlock" the map from the character?

What I mean by this is, that I'm used to moving my party with the mouse, while moving the map with WASD.

As it is, I have a bit of trouble with the map moving around as my character moves, because, obviously, the monsters move with the map as well making it harder to "hit" them with my attack-clicks (I did change LMB to "move only" as I read in a beginner's guide, that's not the problem).

P.s.
I'm aware that I can move my character with WADS in POE2, but from what I have seen on YT, the map always stays centered on the character.

You can move the map with the arrow keys. Hope that helps.
[slaps forehead]
I can't believe I didn't try that

Thanks a ton!

Edit: It seems I didn't make myself clear.

What I was talking about isn't the map you call up with TAB, but the, well, landscape, the area you see your character standing on.

When I click somewhere with the LMB to send my character there, teh screen stays centered on my character while the map moves beneath him.

What I'd like is for the map to stand still, only to move when I use WASD or the arrow keys and the character moving around on it

Basically, WASD controls the camera and the mouse controls the character's movement.

The camera will always be locked to the character. That's just how these types of games play.
Oh well, it was worth asking.

Anyway, thanks for the clarification.

For PoE1: Later on this will become mostly irrelevant for many builds as you wont have to click on monsters anymore.
No wonder it's lost, it's in the middle of the jungle!
