Question for the traders about mirror of kalandra and the div card
I'm too stupid to figure this one out myself. My brain is almost melting but I'm simply unable to understand the logic behind this.
A mirror of Kalandra cost X divines. You need 9 div card "house of mirrors" to get a mirror of kalandra. So the price for one of these div cards should be about 1/9 of the price of a mirror, right? BUT the div cards sell for almost twice that price. How does this make any sense? Buying 9 cards to get a mirror costs almost 2 mirrors in divine orbs. Please don't let me die stupid and tell me the part that I am missing! Well I don't know all the market forces, but it depends on demand I would think. There could be a lot of factors and being that i'm not a trade guy I don't know what the major ones are, but a Div card is it's own form of currency.
Think of this example. What is worth more, 9 mirror cards or a mirror. It might seem like they are the same, but you can't split a mirror up like you can with the cards. You can always trade the cards for a full mirror. So in that regard, the cards should have more value. Does that account for the difference, probably not on it's own but there is likely a whole range of other factors. A mirror is a very high end currency, so it is possible there is more trading utility from having smaller currency denomination. When you sell something in fractions of Div, people often want chaos change. Card or mirror shard are potentially useable for this purpose with mirrors. Another example, lets say you want a mirror and you are close to a full stack. You might be willing to pay a little extra to get those last few cards, as the cards have no value for that purpose unless you have a full stack. There are also factors that could make div cards sell for less than their face value. For example early in the league you drop a card that is not useful to you, it might be worth selling it for under face value to get the currency quicker instead of hanging onto something you can't use. This is dependent on supply and demand. I would think the main reason why there might be a big disparity in this case is that the currency denomination is getting close to the top end of the currency market. There may be other factors as well. For example you can use div cards for gambling. Probably there is a more specific reason, I don't know much about what's going on in the trading market, but there must be some demand for them at that price, or the price would drop when they don't sell.
