SOLVED - Game Crashes when loading Character

After logging in, i enter character selection, after selecting a character the loading screen gets stuck and i have to manually kill the game. This can happen on other loading screens too, but seems much more likely (50% of the time) when first loading in.

I am using the Steam client on windows 11 and thankfully still have an older laptop that uses win10 with the steam client and the same character can be loaded via the same internet connection, eliminating options 3-5 from the general troubleshooting guide.

I have cleared the cache on the new laptop, repaired twice and reinstalled twice, disabled windows defender's real-time scanning entirely.
The new laptop has better specs than the old one that can run PoE, and gets regular restarts and windows updates, it's been restarted like 30 times at this point. It is installed on an SSD, i have installed the newest NVIDIA driver, had windows install the newest network driver, although i do not trust it to have done the job right.
If you believe drivers could be the problem please give me a list of drivers i should update.

Sadly i cannot post pictures here and i will not manually type out all the specifications.
This problem has persisted since the start of the league and i'm hoping this can be fixed.

Thank you Okioki100 for posting your solution. Switching from the default DirectX 11 to DirectX 12 solved it for me as well, no crashes on 10 character loads and restarts. I switched back to DirectX 11 to confirm this was the fix and promptly failed to load the character 2/2 times.
There definitely seems to be some kind of problem with Windows 11 and DirectX 11.
I'd ask everyone still on this thread to try Okioki100's fix and if your problems persist to make a thread of your own, so this can stand as solved.

A lot of crashes ... when entering new area, entering vaal and so on ..

I also have the same problem, playing on steam.

i had same problems few hours ago, couldnt get past character selection. i tried switching my graphics from directx12 to dirtectx11 and that let me log in. then i switched it back to directx12 in game and it was fine. hope i dont have to do this every time i log in now...

It happens for me on windows (non Steam). For me, it started after upgrading the NVIDIA drivers to the latest (i think i didn't upgrade it for couple of months).

I have 100% of usage on my SSD when entering the game, where freezes even my PC. I reinstalled the game on another SSD, but still goes to 100% the C:\ drive (wrong one). I cannot believe how poor optimized this game is, and how can it mess even a directory that game isn't installed

Same here, just destroyed a juiced map :(

I guess some more details, happens on character loading and also when you load into a new map. Usually freezes during loading screen or right after loading the map (if the latter, just freezes and crashes).
