Omen of Blanching mechanics/weights - Crafting question
First off, I did a forum search first and got nuffin.
Does anyone know the weights for Omen of Blanching's effect or how it even actually works. Does it perform a single calc roll? 1. 33% 1w, 33% 2w, 33% 3w? (unweighted) 2. X% 1w, Y% 2w, Z% 3w? (weighted) Or does it perform a calc roll on each socket individually? 3. s1: 50%w, s2: 50%w, s3: 50%w (unweighted) 4. s1: X%w, s2: Y%w, s3: Z%w (weighted) If it does it individually, and there are 6 sockets available, does it only roll on 3 random sockets then stop calculations? And what happens if there are only 2 sockets available to color? Does that effect the chances of them both going white? 5. 50% 1w, 50% 2w (single calc - unweighted) 6. A% 1w, B% 2w, (single calc - weighted) 7. s1: 50%w, s2: 50%w (indv calc- unweighted) 8. s1: A%w, s2: B%w (indv calc weighted) In practice what I want to know is, can you optimize your chances at 2-3 white sockets by adjusting the total number of available sockets prior to rolling? “Freedom is what we do with what is done to us.” Last bumped on Sep 20, 2024, 5:52:45 PM

Don't even need to test it to say that it works exactly like every other mechanic in the game.
Weighted, unequal odds based on the outcome. 1s being way more common than 3s. Like, potentially 85% 1, 14% 2, 1% 3 As for which socket gets turned white...no idea but that likely shouldn't matter. |

From my limited testing (~10 items this league), it does not seem to be weighted. Every time I managed to get 3 white sockets with maximum 5 omens.
Note: on each attempt the sockets colors are re-rolled, so it's not relevant if the initial item has white sockets or not. It simply applies a chromatic orb, then re-colors 1-3 sockets. Last edited by 6_din_49#4066 on Sep 18, 2024, 10:51:07 AM

" Well it's almost certainly not the weights you suggested, just based on the high number of times I have hit 3 white. I agree it is definitely some kind of weighted calc, I included the unweighted options for completeness. However what is unclear, and the most practical piece of information to uncover IMO, is whether reducing the number of sockets on the target to 2 changes the odd's of them both turning white. “Freedom is what we do with what is done to us.”

i pulled the numbers out of thin air, they are likely not anywhere near close to correct. But the weighting would likely be similar.
I would be ASTONISHED if it was a true random 33% chance. That would make it unique across all of PoE. Last edited by mefistozxz#6750 on Sep 19, 2024, 9:49:14 PM

"Crafting +15% elemental&chaos resists on gloves/helmet/boots took me more tries then hitting 3 white sockets with omens of blanching. At some point did the craft like 10 times to hit the maximum roll (can only roll 13%, 14% and 15%, so on paper it should be 33% chance). If someone has the budget and will to test this, can buy like 100 omens and use them on 100 different items with 3 sockets, then count how many have 1/2/3 white sockets.
