Automation skill gem

Hello everyone! I am a new player of path of exile, i have been playing for two weeks, slowly discovering all the game mechanics. If the problem i'm having is silly, it is probably due to my lack of knowledge.
So, i'm trying to understand how automation skill gem works. In the wiki it is written that it works with autoexertion, therefore my setup includes: automation-autoexertion-general's cry. However, it is not possible to activate automation (even outside the hideout). What am I doing wrong? What am i missing? Last bumped on Aug 25, 2024, 7:55:43 AM

" You don't need automation with autoextertion at all. Just autoextertion + warcry Automation is for stuff like Molten Shell |

automation only works with instant skills
warcries aren't instant and have a cast time autoexertion is basically automation for warcries |
