how to get crimson ore?

so far i just ignored it and mostly sent out food because that gives the loot i want but now i want to finish the port quota challenge and it always asks for absurd amounts of crimson...and i always have 0 even though my miners are mining it. does it come from the encounter you find in maps? i have been doing those so i dont get why i always have o

You get it from the encounters, yes.
You can also send bars instead of the ore and they count 5x |

hmm i do the encounters in every map so i wonder why i never have any...need to do a lot more maps i guess

Do you have people assigned to mining..?
And if you've smelters they'll work on other ore once they've finished the one they were told to do |
