regarding essence glutton necromancer how does it work

it says that when consuming a corpse it regenerate energy shield.

Via any ability that explicitly says "consume a corpse" in description. Basic example are offering skills, but there are numerous abilities that also do this as part of mechanics.

i tried flesh offering but i cant seem to see if it regenerate the shield
