Map device used up map and scarabs but did not open portals during the animation

Was trying to run a typical 5 scarab + map setup, and the map and scarabs disappeared yet no portals spawned during the 'activation'. Waited for minutes, nothing; tried to switch maps and return to hideout, nothing; re-logged, still nothing.

Was very surprised I could not find any information about this online since standard scarab + map setups are easily over a divine in cost.

Sounds like a bug if that's what happened.
