Tempest Shield is causing Game Crashes - with video

Hi,

yesterday i changed one of my Auras / Buffs to Tempest Shield. Since then i have been experiencing crashes while Mapping. Changing renderer, graphic settings, resolution or the MTX of the skill and updating my nVidia drivers did not resolve the issue.

Below you'll find a Video of me showing you my ingame settings along with the map, scarabs and modifiers used. The game crashes around 30 seconds into the map without error message. The game and audio freezes for a second before i drop onto my desktop.

For further context i also captured me finishing the map after relogin, disabling tempest shield and running the map without any issues - same settings, same scenario, no crash.

Game crashes at 1:26 minutes into the video. You can see the performance graph topright. I zoomed in for a closeup but there is nothing that looks worrying to me coming from my rig.

I will be removing Tempest Shield from my Gemsetup as i do not think this is getting fixed. I am pretty sure it is some weird interaction of many individual factors and not some issue "everyone" running Tempest Shield has.

Are you using the "Ring of The Demon Slayer" MTX? I was crashing this same way (While using Tempest Shield) and solved my problem by taking off that MTX.

This kind sir just solved my problem. Taking off the "Demon Slayer" Ring MTX does fix the issue! I played that ring MTX since Leaguestart and had no issues - until i equipped Tempest Shield....

Can someone from GGG take notice and look into this if it's not reported as a bug / performance issue yet?

I'd like this to be fixed for all the other poor souls who have no idea why they are crashing.

Same here.

After take-off "Ring of the Demon Slayer", I was able to do all the delirium content with tempest shield active without any problems.

Same problem here. Started crashign once i began to use tempest shield with Svalin. I thought it was my 14900k lol.

Toook it off and no crashes. I was using the demon slayer ring MTX as well.


I will report back if the ring fix doesnt work.

My game crashed at the 4th Ritual altar with lots of mobs!

however in event logs it showed a different error.

Error without the ring:

The program PathOfExileSteam.exe version 0.0.0.0 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Security and Maintenance control panel.

Still crashing with Tempest shield .. not as frequent but its still happens when maps have delerium..

I think the game engine just inst capable of handling that many tempest shields going off. I am just using it for the block chance, I wish there was a way to disable the shock chance.

I also crash to desktop when i use tempest shield. After reading this thread, i tried removing the skill and i managed to do a few maps without a single crash. Then i put it back, guess what, crashed within 2 minutes. I'm not using any ring MTX, so it seems to narrow the problem to the skill itself. Are you guys using any tempest shield MTX?

Strangely enough, i just removed my celestial tempest shield MTX and i have not CTD for over 6 hours, where i would crash at least 3 times / hour with celestial tempest shield. I'm not 100% sure it's related but it seems to work for now.
