Oneshotted...Again

Normally i dont post anything here but i want to know what am i doing wrong or if im missing something in the game.

I have played for more than a decade now and for me it always comes down to the same thing, i think i have quite good layered defences overall, but i get oneshotted anywhere randomly.

Latest example(at hideout without any charges, fortify or pots):

-Glad lvl 96
-Life: 5870
-Armour: 24471
-Phys damage reduction: 84%
-Spell suppress: 36%
-Fire Res: 80%(124)
-Cold Res: 78%(92)
-Lightning Res: 80%(113)
-Attack block: 65%(98)
-Spell block: 65%

If someone can tell me what am i missing to not get oneshotted everytime(even in t14 randomly) i'll be happy to know, otherwise the game is dead to me again...(until i forget about this and come back)

you didnt post your chaos res...i'm guessing its low?
What are the map mods that get you killed that way?

Where are you getting 84% phys reduction from? And is your block with glancing blows?

On paper your defenses are ok but not great. And your characters are hidden as well so tough to give more help.
character isn't public

bıt as far as I can tell your defenses are enough for red maps if you don't roll bad mods

character is public now, VilSoulCatan,

chaos res is not good but i dont think i die everytime to chaos damage dealers.

for map mods i avoid:

-phys reflect
-less armour, block
-increased damage as extra chaos
-cannot regen or 80+ less regen

phys damage reduction comes from armour and a 4% from ring for herald of purity
It's impossible to say for sure without concrete examples but there is a lot more chaos damage around these days compared to 5 years ago. Running around with low or even negative chaos res will get you killed a lot.

Your res and armor are about average, not a level that will get you killed easily but also not a level where you won't die at all to it. Depending on map mods and situation you can easily get oneshot by phys damage or elemental damage. There is also the matter of getting hit by a lot of small hits in short succession. If you get hit by 20 monsters at once then it's not really a one shot but will feel like one. You don't seem to have much life on block so you are prone to those kind of deaths as well.

I don't want to sound overly critical, your character isn't bad by any means on first glance, it's just that this game is pretty lethal in red maps and it takes quite the effort to nullify it. You simply aren't there yet.

Vanilla defense list, if you dont tick every point expect "random" deaths.
"
0. Game Knowledge
1. Movement and positioning. Dont get hit by big things. Dont get group-mobbed. This is the most important defensive layer for most mapping builds. It has player and build components.
2. Elemental resists, should be overcapped. How much depends: If you have the curses cant lower them then 25% overcap are good for mapping.
3. Buffer: You need enough life/ES/whatever. How much depends on the other things. You also need to be able to recover it.
4. Something against phys stuff. Like Armour. With good buffer 10k armour may be enough for mapping. With less buffer (most SC mapping builds) you need more.
5. Attack Avoidance: Evasion or block. Block is unreliable though.
6. Something against bleed and corrupted blood. If you dont have a permanent solution then bleed can easily stealth kill leading to "random" deaths.
7. Chaos resist. How much depends on buffer size.
8. Ele ailment reduction or better immunity.
9. Spell Suppression. Or spell block. Or some Aegis skill or some such. Or more max resist + phys mit.
10. Crit damage reduction.
11. Curse effect reduction. This ranks higher if you do not have immunity to resist lowering curses and are not sufficiently overcapped.

Some points in particular:

Large parts of your defense are unreliable in principle (incomplete Spell Suppression, low Block without Evasion). Expect to get "randomly" killed occasionally by groups of mobs.

Your cold res isnt overcapped enough. If you meet some "extra cold dam + cold exposure" on a ele weakness map you will take ~2x the damage already. And rare mobs with "curses" can be a lot worse.

And chaos should be capped in current PoE or at least close to cap. Some mobs (like Tora Syndicate) can do high amounts even without extra mods.

In practice if you want to learn (avoid oneshots) you may have to analyze every one of these oneshots individually. They likely do not have all the same cause.
No wonder it's lost, it's in the middle of the jungle!
