Self-Crit for Inextricable Fate, can that work?
Hi everyone!
I like slower builds with channeling skills, and I like theory-crafting, so I got my eyes on the Nature's Patience keystone, which gives me % to deal double damage and less damage taken based on the number of grasping vines affecting me. This is perfect for a slow-moving (stationary) build. Now the keystone has a limit of 10 vines. With Inextricable Fate boots however (if I understand it correctly) I could double the number of vines on me, to 20, which would give me a 40% chance to deal double damage and 20% less damage taken. Nice. The only problem now is to take a controlled critical strike for Inextricable Fate's "You gain 3 Grasping Vines when you take a Critical Strike" tag. Enemy hits are dangerous (duh) and unreliable, more so in a boss environment, so the only thing left is: hitting myself, aka self-damage. Self-damage sources are secondary damage, they don't have a base critical chance, but can be given additional chance with brittle and assassin's mark. Assassin's mark, not being a hex, is hard to self-inflict (if even possible), I've found brittle to have more options for self inflicting. So my question is, would this interaction-chain work? If I can manage to self-brittle myself, then a self-damage source (Scold's Bridle, Gluttony, maybe Hiltless) could crit me, proccing Inextricable Fate to gain more grasping vines, going over the local limit of 10 from Nature's Patience?
