Okay I know they have announced a lot of different cool shit that will definitely be in the shop.

I want extra cool special effects: hovering witches sparking/sparkling trails from that mask right there --> <--- bad-ass fire-face ice halo more crit animations like disintegrating or melting More Clothing, I want to look fancy smancy sometimes: full tuxedo, jacket, vest and bow tie... pants, a top hat capes More Character Models: I love the current ones, but when every marauder has the same tattoos, hair and height, it begins to look pretty repetitive, so more types of faces, skin tones, and ages and stuff. Idle animations, or pet animations: I want to teach my kiwi a bag of tricks and demonstrate how well it can balance a fruit on its beak or something. I also want to just randomly juggle my weapons if I have that turned on. More pets: I really truly want a pony. I don't give a fuck. Ponies are cool. This thread has been automatically archived. I'm curious: no one feels bothered by the split between appearance and the item? Particularly for uniques?
Because I can only guess no uniques will look too good f there are lots of appearance items in the store. Or maybe GGG is just so awesome we'll have a bit of both? |

I was in correspondence with Erik T over this, because I noticed the unique items don't have unique models. This concerned me, because my unique looks nothing like a base rapier.
He said that unique models are of course being planned and that the diamond uniques will be considered something of a priority there. On the other hand, uniques in D2 didn't have unique models -- at most, they had different colour schemes. So we're sort of spoiled by MMOs there, but if GGG are going to play the 'we want you to pay to look good but all content is free' card, then I think it's entirely possible they could make the true skins of the uniques microtransactions. I really hope not. BUT it certainly wouldn't be against their rules. The uniques are functioning exactly as they should, and 'how they look' doesn't involve that. But I suppose I consider 'unique unique models' as it were to be essential content. ...I hope I haven't given GGG an idea. Account sharing/boosting is a bannable offence. No ifs, ands, or buts. Guild options/goodies.
It would even be wise to have guild creation cost credits. This would weed out a ton of excess guild-making. Thus, it would leave only those who are willing to invest credits into creating and retaining a guild. "A communion...but with what? " They painted you a fregin avatar for the forums. I believe they want to put their artistic talent to use and make the uniques in the game look as fantastic as they appear in the item icon. They obviously have a good reason to make this game super duper good looking and attractive to the fickle game consumer. They wouldn't want to make them pay for the unique item models for the stuff they already have, just for the extra shiny guts and stuff which actually are extras to the item. It looks good when everyone can run around looking cool with their different stuff on, and everyone will start playing a cool looking game, and people will be like, "Wow, that is a nice hat, how may I purchase and/or trade for a hat like that?" And you will tell them, "It is only 999.99 points in the grinding gear game shop," and they will say, "Holy cow, I need this hat now as all of my friends (who also play this gorgeous game) will be totally jealous." All in totally robotic voices. But I mean, comparing the weapon models in this game to a 2001 GOTY, that's like saying we should have a 2D sprite mode with every animation pre-rendered for computers which can't handle the 3D yet. It's just so easy to upgrade the effects and make it look beautiful! Stop giving them bad ideas now. |
