My turtle spectre disappeared

I was running a map and I ran into a spike post in one of the labs in the map.
I stood still and I could see my turtle on top of me then my health went to 0,
no option to respawn at checkpoint or in town, the game just didn't detect me as dead.
I restarted the game and when I logged back in my turtle spectre was gone :(!
I am so sad
