What am I missing...
So I've got an Essence Scarab of Stability in my map device and some remnants of corruption..
I come upon an Essence mob with 8 essences. 2 Deafening, 3 Shrieking (all purples!), 1 Screaming, and 2 Wailing. The flavor text on the Scarab of Stability states: "Using a Remnant can only result in upgrading or transforming" Which, I assume, meant that it would either upgrade each essence by 1 tier except for the Deafening, or transform those that can be transformed (the purples). Instead, when I use the Remnant the result is 8 wailing essences of worthless junk. That is a transformation (typical POE - from treasure to trash 99.9% of the time) but it is certainly NO 'upgrade'. I've never actually seen anything get upgraded at all using Remnants. So, WTF is going on? Have Remnants become entirely worthless with a scarab that does not work appropriately? Patch Notes 3.15: Fixed a bug where players believed the game was playable. This has been corrected and made retroactive. Patch Notes 3.19: Fixed a bug where players adapted to 3.15. This bug cannot be corrected, so we have implemented a 90% reduction in item access as a punishment. Last bumped on Aug 13, 2024, 5:34:55 PM

Crystal Resonance atlas passive - Using Remnants of Corruption on Imprisoned Monsters in your Maps replaces all Essences with one of the Essences on the Imprisoned Monster.

Yes, I have that passive. It works as described.
[edit] And that was the problem. Using that passive generated more challenge and more essences from bosses but made it effectively impossible to create remnant essences. Removing it corrected the problem. Patch Notes 3.15: Fixed a bug where players believed the game was playable. This has been corrected and made retroactive.
