how am i dying?

maybe i dont understand this correctly. im using a warlord body armour with "you and your minions take 100% reduced reflected physical damage" and yet i still kill myself in maps with "monsters reflect 30% of physical damage" in one hit...
whats the point of this mod if it doesn't do anything? or is something busted?

Damage shifting, which is a term to describe what "Damage taken as" do, is the first step of the calculations for taking damage. They work this way so that you only defend against the damage according to its final type--for example, if you have 100% of fire damage taken as lightning damage, you don't get to reduce the damage with both your fire resistance and your lightning resistance.

Your armour and helmet give you 20% of physical damage taken as fire damage. This affects the reflected damage you're taking as well. The reflected damage that you are taking as fire damage is not reduced by "Take reduced Reflected Physical Damage" because it is Elemental damage.

Also any source of increased damage taken (ie shock) is additive with the reduced reflected taken. So if you have a 5% shock on yourself you will take 5% reflected damage.
so im killing myself with my own defensive conversion from a physical hit that im doing to myself in the end with fire damage. jesus
i have 81 fire res thou, 86 with my flask up, thats crazy that im killing myself with 20% of my own dam THRU my elemental mitigation
There is a massive gap between player defensive stats and offensive stats. Most characters have elemental max hits of 20-50k. Aka they can take up to 50k from an elemental hit before dying. Meanwhile player damage, even on lower budgets, is typcially in the millions. 20% of just a million damage would still be 200k which is like 10 times what most can take.
