Oath Of Summer and Ignite.
Probably only answerable by GGG, but curious on opinions
I was wondering how Oath of Summer interacts with notables that relates to triggering an ignite. It's probably wishful thinking, but I'm curious where in the chain the scroch conversation happens. I'll use the Sadist notable as an example. 20% increased elemental damage if you've ignited recently. I'm wondering, since we are still scaling ignite chance, if we trigger an ignite, causing this notable to proc, and it is then convererted to scorch, Or If the ignite > scorch is immediate and since no ignite is actually applied to the target and it gets converted to scorch first. I guess I'm curious on if the trigger for "have ignited recently" is on the mob receiving the fire dot, or whether we get a positive trigger on ignite chance, and if the latter, does the conversation ton to scorch happen in place of the trigger, or after. As for opinions on which it should go, I think it probably should still Tigger in benefit to the player. I am still scale ignite chance and it enabled players trying for direct fire damage still be able to benefit from Sadist, Snowfire, etc. Last bumped on Aug 6, 2024, 11:13:08 AM

Pretty sure it is the second case, but I can't say for certain. I kind of get what you are saying, like with damage conversion you can use both damage types to scale, but it doesn't work like that to my knowledge. Still I may be wrong.

This one is pretty simple. Have you ever actually inflicted an ignite recently? The answer is no because they are all scorches.

" I know that's how it reads and how, but I'm curious on the chain of events in the code and if the trigger on ignite chance resulting in a positive triggers the condition "has ignited" and it is then convererted to scorched. The wording on Oath of Summer is Ignites you would apply instead applies scorch. This could be read in the same way, in which wcotech triggers on the positive for triggering a positive result on ignite chance. In my example I actually errored. Snowforged would not work, as it states enemies ignited by you have reduced res. However for sadist it simply states have you ignited recently. Now if you read that has having applied an ignite, the. You're correct. But if "ignited recently" is based not on the application of ignite, but on the triggering of your ignite chance, it would work in our favor. It's likely that the trigger of ignite chance apply, in the case of ailment avoidance and immunity, that the trigger is on the application of the fire dot and not on the trigger chance of the player. And if that is the case, then I think GGG might want to consider retooling some of these notables to include ignite and scorch. Oath of Summer is already insanely strong, but it is a little frustrating that the other two ascendencies still work with ailment notables related to their ailments, and it makes all of ignite/fire notables only work with fire dot and only surveys to hurt direct fire damage skills that can't make use of notables related to fire damage ailments. |
