Clear desecrate spectre pool

With the 3.25 desecrate changes, it seems no longer possible to remove spectres from the pool. (before you could go down to max 1 spectre, raise it, get new desecrate gem and then the pool would only be that spectre).

Does anyone know a way in 3.25 to remove spectres from the desecrate pool?

I would very much like to know too.

It is very annoying to have to take out a gem like spell echo, because otherwise it will just summon one of the spectres you used to level with (or any other previously used spectre) at random.
