Dealing with Soul eaters, often several per map

The last one was a burrowing soul eater with regen in a Ritual. It had me sitting there for 7-8 minutes before it died. Logging off now.

Is there any reasonable way to deal with this?

Same map had five more soul eaters, perhaps a bad seed? I get them ALWAYS. Soul eater was a super rare mod a few leagues back.

I don't feel like playing more this session but happy to learn what countermeasures I can set up for it in the future.

I would love some suggestion, even if it's "don't do ritual" or "run your maps magic instead of rare" because I don't know how to handle all these soul eaters.
Dont do ritual. The key is to run away (if possible) and let the soul eater stacks bleed off. Tough to do in ritual.

Soul eater just kinda sucks in its current iteration.
I came to the forums to ask about Soul Eater as well. Hoping for some counterplay or way to identify them. It is impossible for any of my builds (possibly the game builds) to have no AoE element to not buff them. Unless you are juiced to the moon and can one shot.

I have 19 Deaths so far on this character. 10-15 of them are due to Soul Eaters. Generally speaking they kill me 2-3 times before I log off or abandon the map. First time I release before I notice it (on me) the second time is finding out it is a Soul Eater, and Third is me trying to avoid it but get bent over a barrel before rage quit.

They are so common it is annoying. Any tips, tricks, identifying auras or icons I can focus on. Anything. When my screen is full of creatures and my attacks. I will be happy if I see a Golden Outline.

Would be great if Boss and Rare monsters Healthbar and stats were on Screen and not needing to be hovered over to identify them when they were in proximity.

Any help will be appreciated before I give up this league because of them. That is how infuriating they are. Nothing like loosing all your XP to inbalance.
Yeah I think it need a nerf. Happy to hear from anyone who thinks it's balanced or knows a counter, but it's too overpowered for at least 2 leagues now in my opinion. The biggest problem is you can't really play around it. In other ARPG you might be able to identify it and do some kiting/single target damage. That's not realistically possible in POE. Just needs to cap out at a reasonable value. In isolation it is fine. On the burial chambers map you know it's coming and can adapt. On juiced up maps or content you can't see it until you've crated a monstrosity. I think its a bit similar to effigy was about 5 leagues back. They improved that mod, they should probably do the same with this one. I had a delve node this league where everything else was destroyed, but I couldn't beat this one super fast juiced up monster and had to run back to the previous delve node to get away. Escaping seems to be the only counter. It's not very conducive to playing without a logout macro. Which is why when you cant escape the area, like ritual, is probably where it is most dangerous.

My character can often run away but not always. Two days ago I set up so I have Taunt 8% x 6 from ghastly eye jewels (and plenty life, accuracy) and also Meat Shield on TWO carrion golems but the soul eaters ignore taunt somehow.
There was a bit of talk about it last league, I haven't had that much problems with it this league, but a few times I got one out of control and was glad I wasn't playing HC. The real counter is just having overpowered damage so you can blow it up. Last league I started with a low damage build and it was very noticeable that it was significantly more powerful than the other mods I was running into.

Also burrowing is pretty annoying so that sounds like an awful combination.

The amount of soul eaters in this league makes every map cancerous. Kind of tired of this bulls*it tbh. Every single map, there is at least one, never happened before.
