Path of Exile website broken when connecting with ISP CenturyLink (US)

Hello, I'm not very computer savvy (downloading and putting item filters in the PoE file made me feel like a 1337haxx0r. I genuinely thought I might be doing something ban-worthy.)

About a week ago I started running into a problem where https://www.pathofexile.com/ website was being opened as though I were opening it with Notepad. The links were blue and underlined but broken. The background was completely white and only 1 of the news feed backgrounds had any color to it. On a side note, poe.ninja had ONLY their item icons broken; possibly the same reason.

I did find a workaround in my case on reddit; I had to log into my modem's Admin and turn off a 'Cybersecurity' setting that it had set on it. Again, I'm not very computer savvy so I'd prefer to have that on if possible.

With it turned off I was able to fully load the pathofexile website. I have all of my little item icons on poe.ninja but I did turn the cybersecurity thing back on so I don't know how long it'll remain functional.

If there is any fix that can be done on your end the US players that use the Centurylink ISP would greatly appreciate it!

Have a nice day!

Quick add-in edit; I tried to post this but I got a note saying something expired and my character's icon is missing for my account.

Hi there,

Unfortunately we don't have control over how/when we are flagged by McAfee Security (which is used by your CenturyLink router). We can only appeal the flag which takes an unknown length of time to be resolved.

In our case, the URL that serves all of our images and layout/styling configuration (CSS) has been blocked by McAfee/your router. Sometimes your router/firewall software will show you a warning which you can accept, but because pathofexile.com itself hasn't been flagged, you will not see this - although you may see it if you try to view an image directly, eg. https://web.poecdn.com/protected/image/layout/necropolislogo.png?v=1712638342024&key=HZPht4SJQXcRAksZEh1cgA .

The images you load will be cached by your browser and not re-fetched for a while so the images may continue to work after re-enabling "cybersecurty", but probably only for about a day or until you load an image that your browser hasn't previously loaded.

As you found, there are workarounds that you can employ until the flag is reviewed.
