Swords vs. axes

Are there any advantages to using swords over axes, or vice versa? I am exploring dual wielding and will be able to get either sword specific or axe specific passive skills in the next 10 level-ups. Is it even worth it to use the passive skill points to specialize for a weapon class?

Axes do more damage.

I'd recommend that you don't spec into a specific weapon. Doing so makes it harder to find good gear.

This. If you know you're going to dualwield, stick to nodes that give dual wield damage or 1h damage rather than chosing between swords and axes. Atleast until endgame.

Unless ofc you are speccing in something like life leech, in which case you go for claw damage.

Whirling Blades

So Swords.

Swords -> Attack speed. Specially rapiers. Up to 1.7 base aps (attacks per second).
Axes -> Moar damage. Up to 1.3/1.35 base aps.

Claws aside, weapon passives aren't good.

I play with both axes as swords on my dualwielder. No specialisation, so I can wear the best of what I find.

Same, I am using 1h sword and 1h axe. It is really cool to run gems that use axe or sword with axe and sword.
