Is there a cap on poison dps? Why is PoB capping at 35m?

I'm playing a Seismic Poison build
Right now in PoB community fork, against a Guardian/Pinnacle Boss
1 trap - average waves hitting - 36m
1 trap - all waves hitting - 36m
Average traps - 1 wave - 36m
Average traps - average waves - 36
All traps - all waves - 37m

https://pastebin.com/VxHgjdjJ

So far I've been using "1 trap with average waves" to improve my character and overall mapping speed, but I just added Polymath and now I cap that category too.

Am I looking at the right number? Should I focus on "Poison DPS" or "Total Damage per Poison" instead of "Total DPS incl. Poison"?

From my testing, there seems to be a cap, if I switch "Divergent Advanced Traps" for "Trap and Mine Damage", in theory I should gain 12% "Total DPS", but a boss' health bar goes down at the same rate with both gem, albeit more evenly with "Advanced Traps".

Why is it capping at around 35m? Every DPS increase after 35m adds a fraction of what it should. My dps is great, but a 100% delirius map disagrees with that assessment.

Because there is a cap.
Monsters supposedly cant take more than ~35m/sec DoT damage. So likely (in game and in PoB) only the hit portion increases your overall DPS once you have reached that cap. (IMO an implementation failure in PoE if true.)
No wonder it's lost, it's in the middle of the jungle!

its not an implementation failure.

its reaching the integer limit at that #.

That would be an implementation failure.

There is not way this is real, this would be a extremely poorly coded product if real.
The damage over time effects in Path of Exile are calculated based on damage per minute, and 32 bit signed integers.

You can't deal more than (2^31)-1 damage per minute, because that's the maximum integer that can exist in a 32 bit signed integer system.

And ((2^31)-1)/60 is exactly 35,791,394. Hence there's no way to deal more dps than this with damage over time effects.

If you deal 35 million dot dps everything in the game will die in less than 2 seconds except ubers.

You can technically push the damage further though if you wanted to kill ubers since they will cut that damage by 70%.

The game is 11 year old. So that there is POE 2 and the devs really want to avoid POE 1 dps ballon
