Worth Playing right now?

Hi,

Long time POE Player, but I haven't played since that bandit league and have been playing on and off for the years previously. I got free time now for a couple of weeks (probably the last time I have this kind of time for POE) and I'm wondering if this league is worth dumping my time into or should I just play other new games that have just released like Halo Infinite.

Thanks again!

If you only have a couple weeks, I wouldn't suggest you playing.
"The launch day went quite well with just a few small hotfixes to address minor problems."

Heist League - GGG
Scourge is widely not known as one of the better mechanics. So if you base your coming back on the league mechanic only I'd say wait til 3.17

On the other hand, you probably missed TONS of endgame additions, and for all of those things that are core now i'd say its worth playing.
Play. If you've only got two weeks every now and then to play it really doesn't matter when you jump in. Most of the hate you might find in the game is coming from people who are tired of playing. They're burnt out. They're mad at recent changes to the game that wont affect you at all. You really should ignore it.

Play the game. You aren't losing anything by doing so.
It's better than most games i have ever paid for.

I might try it out. Anyone got ideas for a good solid starter build that's fun but also has lots of room to grow? I always find the hardest part to starting to play this game is choosing a build lmao.

Short: NO
Longer: Hell no

This league is not friendly to returned players and getting into rn. Try std to see all the new core stuff they have added and then join next league.

Jesus...

If you want to play, play. The game is the same + more in league versus standard, so no real reason to play standard. If you have a couple of weeks to spend, you can experience everything this league (and game) has to offer. The league mechanics aren't the best, but far from the worst... Better than nothing (standard) in my opinion.
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

You might remember Enki's build from all those years ago. Well, he's continued to keep his build up to date. Always the best build to start with for someone having issues finding their footing - https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3147914
You want a real answer? Your question is likely really about getting back into POE, and specifically whether the last few weeks of Scourge would get you jacked up to play more in the future. Get the "bug" if you will.

Scourge is really good only if you have an OP build and are a somewhat accomplished player. That is exactly the situation you will be well served to avoid.

3.17 is coming up quickly...league starts are always fun (even with technical issues come up).

If you want to have the greatest chance to get back into the game I would strongly suggest that you do not play until 3.17. But that doesn't mean you should ignore the game until January. On the contrary if you are really serious about regaining your love for POE and you have a few weeks of free time you really need to do the work to study the changes, the meta etc. by watching Youtube videos to understand how the good players are doing it in 2021.

Hit the ground running in 3.17 knowing what you are doing or flailing in Scourge in a pretty much dead league? Easy decision.
