Random latency lag spikes 200-2000ms, especially when fighting monsters, WinMTR included

Hi. No idea what's going on, never had this in all my years of PoE. My connection is fine, other games are fine. even WinMTR does not reflect what's going on in my game. I can start PoE during any time of the day, join any server, and as soon as I enter an instance (currently Act 2, but tried Act 1 as well), Im getting huge lag spikes, seemingly random, up to 2000ms, making the game temporarily unplayable. When I stand still, sometimes the ping goes up to 400ms, but it seems to me that it happens the most often when fighting, and then it goes up to 2000ms. Staying still in town sometimes gives spikes up to 400ms as well, but never more than that. Funny thing is I see none of this reflected in the WinMTR. My FPS is completely fine, Ive watched the graphs closely, Im never getting any hits to FPS when the latency spikes. I dont know what to do, help please. Last bumped on Oct 28, 2021, 10:26:02 PM

Are you sure you inserted the correct address for the host you're connecting to ? Your WinMTR report shows "unn-212-102-52-233.cdn77.com" as the end node but anytime I check my client.txt file the host I'm connecting to is just an ip address with a port, just like in that topic: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1377789

Positive. I've just tried it again with a difference instance. I don't know why this is, but I never get the instance server as the final node in WinMTR.

You are getting packet loss that starts right at your router/modem that carries forward = bad.
Power cycle your router/modem: Turn them off and unplug them for a minute at least. Re run a MTR. PL goes away, you should be good to go. If not, then contact your ISP. Tell them you are getting PL and it's affecting your ability o do what you want to online. Make sure that they see your MTR as that is the proof that they will need to see that something is broked. " Edit: just did one more WinMTR, got some weirdly high over 30% packet loss somewhere on the way this time: https://pastebin.com/vJrmhsCc I just tried power-cycling, it did not fix the issue. I find it difficult to believe that a 1-3% packet loss could be the reason behind this. The lag spikes are clearly worse when in combat. If I just sit in the city it's not nearly as bad. If it's really the router packet loss, surely I should be noticing the same amount and height of lag spikes even in town when not moving, which I don't? And what about other online games, where I don't get even small lags, when in PoE it sometimes gets so bad I get freezes and small rolebacks due to the desync? What is this insane difference? I had the same ISP and modem/router for years now, and now is the first time I have this problem with PoE. If you're certain that it's really the router / ISP and not something else, I guess I can try contacting my ISP about it as a last resort, but that's a huge hassle so I really want to make sure that this is not just a blind guess. Wired or wireless? If wireless, try going wired. If wired, swap out cables, the old one could be krangled. Could also check and see if there are any firware updates for your router/modem as well; if you are comfortable doing that sort of thing.
Yes, I am 100% sure. I am not guessing. After 30+ years in IT, I've forgotten more than most will know. You should NOT have any PL at all, period. Even 1% can fuck with POE because of it's netcode. It doesn't handle ANY sort of PL well. Other online games "working" means squat. Different servers are located in different areas and the traffic takes different routes. Different games handle latency/PL differently. You can't compare the two. I'm wired, but using TP-link usually, because my router is not in the same room as my PC. TP-link basically sends the signals through a power socket and then transforms them back at another power socket destination (was never a problem in past PoE leagues). I tried using my longest ethernet cable I have instead already, gave me that last https://pastebin.com/vJrmhsCc that I already posted in last post. The fist packet loss disappeared this way, but the ones at ISP remain and I felt no difference in-game. I cannot manually update the firmware on my router model, it gets automatically delivered from ISP at set times. Guess I have to try to contact my ISP now. Any idea what that massive 35% PL on the way could be? It wasn't there for my first WinMTR...

That isn't "true" packet loss. That's something called ICMP packet depriortization. Basically, the ping packets are being rejected so more important data can get through. The way to tell the difference; if the PL carries throughout the trace - that's true PL. If you have a node here or there with "glitches" - that isn't true PL. Since we have pretty much 1-3% through this whole trace and it starts at your house/ISP level, yeah, that's just bad.
