Blight map anoints cannot be overriden, bug or intended??

So previously if a blight map had an anoint on it, you could slap oils on it again and change the anoint. This no longer appears to work, as it says it cannot hold any more anoints. Is this intended or a bug, as I dont recall seeing anything about it in patch notes. Really really hope it isnt intended because it is a pointless and frustrating restriction and makes me regret farming my maps in lira last league.
