Great Game. Terrible Community.

Love this game. Hats off to the Diamond Supporters and any other supporters for putting up a hefty amount of money to play. I see it as they paid for me to play. Thank you soo much. Without them, Chris, the Devs and the rest of GGG, nobody would be playing this game for "free". Someone always has to pay.

IMO there are 3 important factors that are turning a good portion of good players away or causing too much bitching and people are sick of it.

1. Trading/Forum Trades. OMG i don't even want to go here. Trading is soo terrible. Sadly, It's like trying to sell a ketchup pop-sickle to a woman in white gloves...

2.Forums and the mods. Excuse my language but there are so many F*****g Ass Holes here with no option to tune them out and it seems when an OP gets upset about their threads getting spammed with hate posts and insults, Mods just lock them up making only the good people suffer as trolls have said their piece and moved on to spam other threads. Options need to be added. Nothing against you mods, your just following basic rules.

3.End game Grinding. I still love the Lore, Game play, Skill Gem System , Shops, Hero's and Crafting System and whatever i left out even though RNG is not on my side. Loot needs some kind of change for the greater good. Not necessarily better rolls but more for class specific drops so we feel we are getting what we need, now to just get the good rolls. I dont care if it takes an eternity, at least we getting the items we need/want and can put them to use. Currency is holding true for the most part so no worries there.

MY Thoughts(Not Facts):
Φ¿Φ Im losing my passion as a lot are from 100+ posts I've skimmed through today (my day off. Thank God for Sundays!!). Hack n slash games, and now PoE, seem to be are falling apart in late game. Maps are a great start but we still need more. People need objectives, quests should be abundant if in anyway possible. It's hard to grind the same area(s) for a month straight and not find specific loot for the Hero(s) we use. I Don't know if i'm asking too much but add more Objective based maps instead of just grinding them out?

Sure, if we all had time like the Kripp's of the world currency/gear isn't a problem, but 90% of gamer's have a Life to attend to and can't achieve what is advertised through streamers or reading material for the game itself. 9.9% just have no lives so they have nothing but time to grind. And the .1% of GGG staff, well i don't see any of them complaining about anything, why would they? :P
If we could just get some kind of change to keep our Heros geard this game would be 100% amazing. There are so many awesome builds that even if we get a tweaked out gear and complete the Hero to our standards, players won't just give up on the game as all the Heros are great to play and so many different ways to play them thanks to the best skill tree in ANY game today!!
Again thanks for the free game and love it to death. I've DL some new/classic game's off Utorrent and recently bought SC HotS, I just can't turn away from this game and it's mechanics even though what's stated above.I'm not going anywhere until ESO is in full swing. Even then i'll still be playing this.

To The Trolls:
I know there will be plenty. Go Kick Rocks. I hate you all. You make these forums a living hell. You can't even debate ANYTHING here without disrespecting the paying supporters or even casual OP's... I won't be replying to anything as I've said everything I've had to. Hope to see a better community soon.

TL:DR
Trading is worse than pulling teeth. Forums are a train wreck. End game grinding needs to be tweaked just a smidge. I understand this is still BETA and this is just constructive crticizm, not QQ'ing. I just want this game to succeed. Didn't mean to write a Novel, just happened that way XD
I actually like the community. No sugar coating, straight to the point.

Or simply trolling, but filtering the trolls is easy enough.
I...

You...

Ketchup popsicle.
Now that I've read the OP, allow me to give a real post.

First, I do find it to be very well thought-out. But I must disagree on most of it, while agreeing with the underlining point by the end of my post.

The community is alright. It's not GREAT, but greatness is relative. It's a hell of a lot better than most communities I've seen. And the forums are a pretty helpful place. There's trolls, but ignoring that, there are then those who go around helping everyone out. Honestly, the only thing that bugs me about the forums is when a moderator closes a thread because one or two jackasses are being fuckin' clowns. I think they should just be temp silenced (or otherwise) rather than close a whole thread.

The end game grinding is a major bitch, too. You can't possibly FIND the things you require for proper progression (particularly if you wanna go for late game progression). But the thing to keep in mind through all the shallow maps is that this game IS in beta, and there is more to Act 3 coming along, as well as a whole new act after it. So, personally, I forgive this end game map grind business at the moment, even though it does suck.

BUT... The biggest point in this thread, and the biggest FUCKING headache in this game... as well as my top 3 worst experiences in any game I've EVER played, is trying to trade in this game.

I'm going to remove my self-filters for a second so that I can properly portray what trading actually is in Path of Exile.

The majority of traders in Path of Exile are beta male, socially undeveloped "kids" (more mentally than their physical age), who VERY WELL may have legitimate disorders (it's highly common in people in GENERAL, let alone the kind of people who play computer games) such as Asperger's or otherwise. Now, put them in a game where currency is not "set in stone", and the result is horrendously indecisive, timid people getting scared that if they vocally accept an offer of 4 Chaos for their garbo item, they may miss out on a 5 Chaos offer 10 minutes later. Some of these legitimately-mentally-disordered people will have the amazing items that higher-end players are trying to buy. This only AMPLIFIES the above effects, and the next thing you know, a kid wants 25 Exalts for a 5-Link rare with 13% stun threshold and +24 life as its only mods, because he heard on the forums that life stacking is very popular.

And god forbid you try to sell anything to these guys. There may be a few legitimate buyers interested in your item, but the odds of advertising it in trade chat while they're online AND viewing trade chat attentively is slim-to-none. Instead, what you'll get is a bunch of whispers asking you if you accept a stack of 20 Whetstones, 3 Glassblowers, and a varying amount of Alch shards for your Dream Fragments.

It is actually very common for me to advertise in trade that I am buying Chromatic orbs for Chaos's, and to be whispered by people linking me their stack of one. "Offer?"

I of course, give them the benefit of the doubt. "How many you got?"

"One."

Soooooooo, yeah... Trading is a monstrously horrible experience. And it's just the science behind it, really. It's GOING to be a monstrously horrible experience for as long as the currency system is "barter", and as long as a large percentage of online gamers are socially (and/or mentally) underdeveloped.

Putting my filter back on, I hope everyone can accept my post with the unoffensive nature I wrote it in.
Not the worst community I've seen. Dragonnest's NA community, full of trolls.

"Ketchup Popsicle" love that line and movie lol!
Believe me, I was born from moba communities. PoE community is like a heaven. Dota/dota2...league of legends, even HoN. Just read 3-4 random threads from these places. Condescending laser beams flying everywhere.
I agree, it's the whole "I am the greatest in the world" mentality
I love the game, it's incredible. but the majority of the community are self righteous jerks
online game economy is very difficult.

some rich people did what you think is terrible to become rich. trading.

this is a grinding game, you have to grind and grind and grind.

also, we are at 2~3 months into 10 year project.

when i get bored i do something different. make a new toon or play different game.

when i come back to poe from a little break, the blast gaming experience is there for me.

that is WHY I love poe/arpg.

And it's funny because Mobas are the bastard child of the real game genre, RTS.

I've played Dota, HoN, League, and Dota 2. By a landslide, League has the worst community. Never going back to that game, and I've endured it for 2 long years. GAME could be fun. But you will never know, because the community ruins the very in-game experience you can have with it.
