Private League Servers with choice of location.
The question about when we (South Africans) would be able to play PoE with a sub 50ms latency has been looming for years and it seems like it would never become a reality.
The reason as to why this has not happened yet has not really been made very clear, but one would assume it has to do with hosting issues. One of which may be that it is difficult to find a suitable host that can be trusted to deliver a server capable of supporting the number of players trying to play from South Africa (or close by) If this is indeed the case, I would like to know if GGG has ever considered finding a host for a smaller scale, e.g. private leagues. I would like the option to host a private league in South Africa for me and my friends to be able to enjoy the game on a lower latency. The obvious benefit here is that if the server does not perform to it's expectations, the affected group of people would be a lot smaller than that of an open league and that we are also willing to pay for this risky experience. (It also has the added benefit of maybe having more players hosting private leagues, this idea is not limited to South Africa) Last bumped on Jun 18, 2020, 3:44:30 PM

as far as i understood it, the problem is finding a provider with a good backbone to the master servers in dallas/america.
a private league isn't bound to a single server, it's part of the normal league but you can't trade/party up with other players and your instances have custom mods if you chose them. age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

I understand what the current private leagues offer, was just wondering if they can bind it to a single server to allow for easier hosting in South Africa.
This would make sense if for the said private server all players are in South Africa. |

" there is no "private server" in the common sense. their infrastructure is "15+ gameservers around the world let players play on them and those servers save the gamestate on certain events on the master servers". private leagues just fit in into this scheme. in a private league you play alongside other players on the usual servers, just under customised conditions. offline
