Is Zana a Villain? A Path of Exile Mystery

We've worked alongside Zana for many years, clearing countless maps, defeating the Elder & Shaper, and now battling the Conquerors of the Atlas. However, with the story of 3.9 comes the implication that Zana could turn against us at some point. Is she a villain?

I watched that video earlier, but I didn't see a very strong argument that Zana is a villain. If she were to eventually trap the exile we play as in the Atlas, she would be right to do so.

She isn't a villain. She's a person in Wraeclast trying to do what is right by stopping us from using the Atlas; at least that's what I was going for in the video.

Zana is insane - there's no way she couldn't be. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. It's a theme that runs through the entire story of the game. And her entire life is tied to the Atlas and its power. But it will probably take time to set up, might even be the focus of the new campaign for Poe 2 which IIRC takes place decades later and sets up the original PoE exiles as villains, much like the current story does with the Conquerors.

I think Zana is insane sure. but i dont think its from the atlas. I think shes just whack.

I dont think the atlas itself drives people insane either. being trapped inside the atlas would though(conqs). and sacrificing yourself only to find out youve been screwed over would as well(sirus). but actually being in there... nah. i dont think it does anything to the mind.

its like shes just doing a bunch of experiments on everyone yet nobody realizes it. we just go along with her sad sob story without questioning anything. we have no reason to question anything because she makes it so believable. she manipulates people and then uses the outcome of those people to manipulate MORE people. rinse repeat.

i think shes nuts. a chaotic evil.

side note: if what she said were true, there would be no way she wouldnt be affected. shes spent more time in the atlas than any of the exiles combined. so either shes lying or shes just as borked. im going with the lying part.

She got the Daddy Issues, or the Electra Boogaloo Complex.

Stay away from crazy. I know you want some of that sweet bathwater, but you'll end up in a map somewhere outlined in chalk, and not even Tane will be able to stitch you back together in his BACTA tank.

They gonna find your remains in the bone crypt next to Archbishop Geofri.

Someone gonna roll tormented spirits, and one of them is gonna be YOU.

Noob exiles finna find a staked corpse on the mud flats, and it's gonna be YOU.

They gonna havta hire Crouching Tuna to go delve for your body when she's done with ya.

She gonna make a talisman out of yo monkey ass. No Jorgin required.

They gonna find yo head in a jar in the Syndicate Research Lab.

They gonna find yo ass crammed in the trunk of a car and there aren't even any cars in Wraeclast.

They gonna find you nailed to an altar by your junk in the Temple of Atzoatl.

They gonna find you stuffed up yer own butt like Maligaro did to hide from y'all. You be lucky if she draw them a map to get you out.

Yer gonna get turned inside out like Skin of the Lords and they gonna havta rub food on yer outsides ta feed ya.

Yer gonna turn up in a cyclone sporting goods store and yer name's gonna be Jack.

She gon poof you, no temple required.

They gon see you sittin on the pier next to Sin and Weylam havin a smoke.

They finna dig ya out of the Bog map with a peat cutter and ye'll be all tanned and leathery and shit.
