Damage leeched as life

So i have this Watcher's eye jewel which gives 1/1.5% of damage leeched as life while affected by vitality. Does this "damage" include Righteous Fire and Scorching Ray? Since it doesn't say attack damage, spell damage or on hit, but just "damage". Does that mean all outgoing damage??

No, Leech is a Hit-only effect. There's nothing in the game logic that allows it to apply to Damage over Time.

But on the leech page it say's this:

Generally the leech modifiers follow this template:

#% of X Y Damage Z Leeched as Life/Mana

Where X can be:

Physical/Fire/Cold/Lightning/Elemental/Chaos

Y can be:

Attack/Spell

and Z can be:

Dealt with {Weapons}

RF is elemental and it does not say you have to hit to leech.
Anyone from GGG who can respond please?
While you are correct that the game does not always properly explain its mechanics, Adghar is correct that life leech does not apply to damage over time effects.

Thanks for you're reply.

Is this confirmed by GGG? Or how do you know this to be 100% accurate.
Because i have seen video's where people leech of RF in a no regen map.
I want to believe you, but if its not confirmed by anyone from GGG i still have my doubts.

Maybe post a video you´re talking about. You can´t leech from RF or DoT in general.
There are different ways how to recover life though (flasks, on hit, on kill, on block, regen, …).
Oh; I just noticed the post which was submitted 9 seconds prior to my own. That wasn't there when I clicked on the button to post in the thread. For the avoidance of doubt - I am not a GGG representative, and I didn't mean to imply otherwise. Looks like the thread was just busy for a moment there! :)

With regard to a source - I did a quick Google. Would you accept a Reddit post?

is the leech on the DoT damage also capped at 10% of max ES/life, or is it a special case due to being a DoT?

Sorry for the ping, Mark!

Also - and it's not my intention to discourage you when saying this, but... Path of Exile entered open beta in January 2013. It's October 2019. The basic mechanics of the game are generally viewed as being common knowledge. While I'll always make an effort to provide a source for my claims when asked to do so out of basic courtesy, others may not be willing to invest time into tracking one down. I respect the desire to learn from an authoritative source, but it may occasionally mean doing the legwork to find one yourself.

I hope the above doesn't come across as rude. People making claims and not being willing to substantiate them is a pet peeve of mine - not saying I approve! Just wanted to let you know what to expect.
