Pierce or Chain for Ice shot?

Been away from the game a long time, and trying to get back into it. In general would pierce or chain be better for ice shot?

They recently buffed chain in the last patch so you would have to test it.

Now causes supported skills to deal 30% less damage at gem level 1 (from 50%), up to 11% less damage at gem level 20 (from 31%).


I would say that if you are crit and using herald of ice, the clear will probably feel better with chain as you would be able to allow herald of ice to proc on multiple packs at once. (just a guess)
