Totems and charges
I actually have a bunch of totem questions that I haven't been able to figure out with my trap/totem guy. I'll phrase in true/false statement form to make it easy. If you know, please say if the following statements are true or false with respect to each of spell totems, ranged attack totems, and shockwave totem, as applicable.
1) I build up power charges and my totems have a better chance to crit 1a) I build up power charges AND have the conduit passive so my totems have a better chance to crit 2) My totems get extra damage from auras like wrath and anger 3) My totems attack faster because of my haste aura 4) Auras are more effective for me because of inner force and they are more effective for my totems too 4) My totems benefit from my passives that grant extra weapon elemental damage (like catalyse) 5) My totems can trigger Elemental Equilibrium Thanks! Totems use your skills, exactly as they are, as if you were using them yourself. So:
1. Yes 1a. No 2. Yes (but indirectly, auras don't affect totems, but they affect some skills you use) 3. Yes, same reason as above. 4. Yes, same reason as above, but not all auras. 5. Yes. 6. Yes, they should, but I'm not sure about that. | |
To elaborate on "1a) I build up power charges AND have the conduit passive so my totems have a better chance to crit":
Totems are not Party Members. They won't get the Charges in the first place. On top of that, Totems have a maximum of zero Frenzy and Power Charges, because they cannot meaningfully benefit (using your stats to deal damage and all that). :) |

Thanks for the answers guys. So on 1) you are saying that the totems never "share" the charges because they don't ever get them but they do get the benefits of frenzy and power charges because my cast speed and crit chance directly affects them? Basically, when they cast it is like I am casting?
Thought of another question: When is the damage a totem does set? Does it lock in when I cast it or does it change based on my changing situation? For example, I cast righteous fire, I cast a totem, I douse righteous fire, the totem starts attacking. Is it doing more damage or is it not? (I'm guessing not now that I'm thinking of it as just being a proxy caster for me but I'm still not 100% if that is the right thought process). |

Yes. Totems use your stats for attacking/casting purposes.
Stats are checked for each individual skill activation. |

Thanks! You've been super helpful!
