WTF? New bow has double the base DPS of old bow but game says only +100dps?

(I'm a Lvl55 ele Ranger)

My old bow wasnt cutting it in Merciless Act1.
I thought i got a bargain at 1 Chaos for the new bow since it's double the DPS on paper. But WTF?!

Old/New


On paper old bow = 90 dps, new = 187 dps.

But in the game, i'm just +100dps more with all my modifiers from gear and skill tree?

old:
Lightning Arrow/Wep Ele dmg/LMP/LoH- 400dps
Frenzy/Wep Ele dmg/Faster attacks/Life leech- 900 DPS

New:
Lightning Arrow combo- 500dps
Frenzy combo- 1050 DPS

WTF?

It has TRIPLE the physical dmg, which means more Lightning dmg since LA converts physical to lightning.
More lightning dmg should mean waaay more DPS because of the +ele dmg nodes from the passive tree.

your weapon ele support gem will scale off of the elemental damage on the bow... since your new bow is mostly physical and slightly slower, the gains are not as big as you would have hoped

Old bow:
avg physical dmg- 29
avg ele dmg- 29

new bow:
avg physical dmg- 104
avg ele dmg- 20

Lightning arrow = 50% of Physical Damage converted to Lightning Damage
old bow: 29/2 + 29 = 43.5 ele dmg
new bow: 104/2 + 20 = 72 ele dmg

New bow has +70% more ele dmg!

and new bow is virtually the same attack speed (1.55 old vs 1.51 new)

wait.. Wep ele dmg only takes into acct the base ele dmg from the bow itself?
It doesnt take into acct the converted ele dmg from lightning arrow?

"Only 100 DPS" is +25% damage for LA in your case. Since you most likely have +X-Y Elemental Damage on a few items and you're probably running Anger/Wrath, around half your total damage doesn't depend on your weapon at all - well, actually it does depend on weapon speed which was better on your old weapon.

As for the last reply, % Weapon Elemental Damage should increase the converted damage just fine. You can see this in the fact that your LA benefits more from the new bow compared to Frenzy which doesn't convert Physical to Elemental damage (+25% vs +17%).

oh wow... didnt realize how much other gear/auras accts for my overall dmg!
