Ice Bite Damage Bonus

Do you get the bonus damage for hitting frozen enemies on the same hit that you freeze them with? or do you have to hit them afterward?

Also, wondering about Tasalio's Sign, it gives a bonus vs chilled enemies. If you chill on a hit, does the hit receive the bonus?

For both, the hit that freezes/chills doesn't get the bonus.

thanks for info, but it seems like counter intuitive design to me - in order to deal more damage you must deal damage more gradually? Typical GGG - what do they have against low attack/cast speed, high damage builds?

Grim Dawn wouldn't do it like this ;*( - they would design skills to be inclusive rather than exclusive the way that GGG tends to

It's perfectly intuitive. If the enemy isn't chilled/frozen when you hit them, as is the case with the hit that inflicts the first chill/freeze, then you don't get the bonus. They have to already be in state [X] before "against state [X]" bonuses apply. It makes sense and keeps the system clean, rather than trying to include every random floating modifier that may or may not apply at any given moment in every single calculation.

Ice Bite, fortunately, doesn't have any damage bonuses vs. frozen targets; it has a chance to generate frenzy charges on killing a frozen target, which is an entirely different thing. Enemies both frozen and killed by the same attack are frozen first and killed second, which means Ice Bite works the way you want it to. Hypothermia (and Tasalio's Sign) have bonus damage vs. chilled targets, but this is very easy to trigger with simple CWDT Vortex or Arctic Breath set-ups, after which the cold damage from regular attacks should suffice to keep an enemy chilled. If that doesn't work? Sorry, man. You may want to look into different damage set-ups.
