Potential fix for ATI card problems.
One of our users reported that disabling "Tessellation" in the driver options fixed all of the problems that his ATI card had been having with Path of Exile. If we could get some feedback on whether this fixes the problem, that'd be great!

Would be great if he shared some more details: how he did it, what ATI card he's using...

Substantial increase in frame rate and stability. Thanks for the tip!

" Does PoE even use Tessellation? I've seen some pretty bump-mapped stuff, but wasn't sure if it was Tessellation at work or not. IGN : Ericaa

Tried this - doensn't help at all w/ multiplayer, still getting 5 fps on 7990.
Great game, but not being able to multiplayer is really getting old. Last edited by Studybreak#3582 on Feb 24, 2013, 11:12:47 PM

Tessellation shouldn't fix our issues as that settings has no interaction with shadows or spell effects. Why would you even suggest this? Tessellation is related to textures being more detailed. That said I may as well go turn it off to see, but I doubt it can fix anything unless you designed the game in a very odd way.

Hello everyone !
First of all, please pardon my English :) If you are reading this post you may be experiencing some troubles with PoE and your ATI Card. Some of us got heavy FPS drops and others got a blurry UI (including gems slots) / Characters Portraits and some others things like the Game Logo in the login screen. Here is how to fix the "blurry UI and so on" problem. @Rory : Disabling Tessellation doesn't fix any problems but (maybe) some FPS drops. As Akumos said, its more related with textures details. First get the latest ATI driver as well. Then you want to set the Catalyst Control Center (CCC) on "Standard Mode" ! -clic on "preference" and then choose "Standard Mode" if it's not already done. -go to Gaming > Gamin Performance > Mipmapping and set the slider to maximum quality -you may want to do the same for every other sliders but the Mipmapping should be enough Here is another way to fix : Just use the ATI Tray Tools, but you need to know wether or not you ATI Card is compatible with this software. If not, you will have a Bluescreen ! If you do not have a great computer don't be too greedy with the sliders or you may have FPS drops. And if you still experience FPS drops you will need to check other threads. !!! Don't forget to launch PoE as administrator !!! Have a good game ! Again sorry for my Enligsh. |

" So, what you're saying is that higher quality rendering = better fps ? Could you post your specs and drivers please ? IGN: Cyanyx
