[2.2][saboteur] Non-crit ice trapper (HC-viable and atziri-viable)

Hello, this is the first time I'm doing a build guide of any kind so... yeah whatever.

Reached level 90 on HC perandus rather easily and been facerolling most content I have come across so far.

Apologies for the lack of videos or screenshots but I'm too lazy for those.

Passive tree
172% inc. life, 21% passive penetration with ascendancy and roughly 500% increased damage + other QoL stuff like flash effect and duration, trap recovery speed and 15% chance to gain Frenzy charge on kill (sustainable easily)
Jewel sockets for more life and damage
Ascendancy points are Chain reaction, bomb specialist (no shit sherlock) and explosives expert

Current gear
So this part could use some upgrades. Currently ele weakness capped with a lot of extra res in few spots. Upgrading to 6-link belly would let me use, elemental focus, conc effect or inc. AoE, which would significantly increase the clear speed. silver and basalt flask are kinda bad since I haven't bothered rolling them yet.
Ideal enchantment on boots would be "penetration if you haven't killed recently" and for helmet it would probably be either ice trap recovery speed (would let me drop 3 passives) or increased AoE for ice trap (could use conc practically without penalty)
Helmet could use more evasion.

BIS is the belly, coil or carcass, atziri's step and for rest of the slots rares.

Damage is around 8,3k Average with cluster trap (meaning around 40k per cast and level 20 ice trap gem with frenzy charges up. And with almost 60% cold penetration it won't be mitigated by much.

Defenses

6.3k life, 13,5k evasion, 40/46 dodge, great flask up-time and boosted effect. reflect proof, kiting is easy.

Map mods that this build cannot do

None, though no regen is annoying and blood magic forces us to turn of grace and clarity.


Gems

Ice trap. 3L in a +2 ice gems until getting a 5-link belly or a good rare chest.
3L. Ice trap-cluster trap-controlled destruction. This carried me to tier 7 maps
5L. Ice trap-cluster traps-controlled destruction-cold penetration-Trap and mine damage.
5-link has been good up to t12 maps (haven't gotten any higher yet)
6-link. -Conc effect (If having a q20 ice trap and preferably AoE helmet enchantment) or - elemental focus (we won't freeze reliably anyway) or - inc aoe for quality of life and larger overlapping for explosions.

Auras. Grace and Clarity.

CWDT - immortal call-increased duration-enfeeble (immortal call at level where it takes roughly 1/6th of your total hp to trigger.

For movement, either faster casting-Lightning warp-less duration. Whirling blades-faster attacks-fortify or Flame dash-faster casting.

For reducing resistances against tough mobs. Cluster traps - multi trap - Frost bomb-
This reduces enemy resistances by 20%.

Currently playing this build. lvl 77 and it is really dam good. Thanks for the guide mate. Using a carc jack atm and the aoe is really nice.

What are the main differences?

I really like survivability and it looks like your build has better defence. Does it compromise damage?

What are the other major differences?

The damage has been enough to make maps up to t14 so far feel smooth, but it's true that this one compromises a bit of damage in favour of going for more life (hc so kind of a good idea). Also I have the flask clusters which he does not so I have 100% flask uptime with quicksilvers, silvers and basalts.

In the end deciding between our builds is whether one wants more damage or defence.

And sorry for replying late, have been kind of busy.

Also I have modified the skill tree a bit. (just check from my character LethalMackerel) removed the heart of ice cluster and changed pathing so I could get aura effect nodes for more tankiness.

EDIT. But to be honest, if you are aiming for clearspeed it's better to go other than traps as the clearspeed will ultimately be capped by trap cooldown.
