Spinning Monkey God - A Tankier CoC Build (10klife+es - w/ lvl 26 discharge variant!)
Hello Wraeclast! Today I'm writing up my build for Perandus, a Trickster CoC build with some nice twists.
Gameplay videos: Dark Forest: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLiyInKZEs0&feature=youtu.be Springs - 110% Quant/Beyond: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQZTpSDOJoo I started using my own builds in the Talisman league, which included a Physical CoC Shadow, and a Fire-to-Chaos Firestorm Shadow, followed with a skill switch to Incinerate. The former boasted lightning-fast clear speeds, but suffered from structural integrity problems against high physical damage or high damage in general. The Incinerate Shadow was quite tanky, but I was annoyed by the fact that I had to stop to cast spells. This build is an attempt to merge the clear speeds of the former build with the tankiness of the second build. Based on my experience so far this league, this attempt has been very successful. This build was designed around the Trickster Ascendancy class - Walk the Aether, Ghost Dance and Shade Form all play key roles in the performance of this build. With everything put together, you'll be dancing across the battlefield at breakneck pace, leaving a trail of dead enemies in your wake, while your remaining foes search desperately through the clouds of daggers and smoke to find you... This build was also heavily inspired by eragon1111's "Xmas Tree" build. Credit to him/her for providing the framework this was made around. You can check out that build here: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1478154 Toolkit:
Spoiler
- ~10k+ combined health and energy shield with excellent gear, ~9k even with relatively scrubby gear. - Ghost Reaver, Elemental Equilibrium - ~55-60% evasion with flasks, ~65-75% with Shade Form active. - Perma-flasks through massive amounts of crits and Surgeon's mod. - 22% Block - Chill, Freeze, and Shock - 80+% movement speed while flasked - Crit-capped melee and spells - 400%+ crit multiplier - Dual curse auras+Discipline - Two sources of Blind - Zero required uniques - Uses NO MANA whatsoever! Downsides:
Spoiler
- Relatively weak against Chaos damage. - Offcolor sockets. - Having to stop and pick up loot severely slows down your clear time. :( - Bosses with high spell damage can be extremely dangerous. Magaera in particular can be really difficult. Shock and Horror is probably a bad idea. - I anticipate that the build would have trouble maintaining power charges against Atziri. I'll test that later and update on how it goes. - I do not know of a way to safely do ele-reflect maps. No curses is very difficult unless you have a 6L staff. First things first, the basic tree!

Spoiler
There is exactly one necessary item for this build: A master-crafted 5 link Military or Highborn staff with the following mods: Hits can't be Evaded Can have Multiple Crafted Mods Spell Damage% Attack Speed% Crit% +1 to All Gems or +2 to cold or lightning gems is a nice addition. Crafting Process:
Spoiler
Buy the blue staff with no other mods. Regal it. Hope for +gems. Once you get it, take it to a crafter to craft the other mods. Should cost about 2-4c+1 regal per attempt, then 2 exalted and some minor currency+crafting fees. My Staff: Why a Staff?
Spoiler
Because the staff nodes tend to give global stats, which makes it really easy to crit-cap your spells and gain crit multiplier. Also, the staff nodes give us the ability to generate Endurance charges on-crit (handy against single mobs and for our IC), and the knockback helps increase our damage by keeping tough mobs caught in our Cyclone. As a bonus, Vagan staves are dirt-cheap compared to Vagan daggers. Armor
Spoiler
For the rest of your gear, you'll want to get as much energy shield, life, and resists (don't forget Chaos!) as possible, followed by attack speed, spell damage, crit chance, crit multiplier, and magic find. Special Unique Option! Voidbringer Gloves: http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Voidbringer Since we don't use any mana at all except for reservation, these gloves carry ZERO DOWNSIDE WHATSOEVER, give tons of ES and spell crit, and they're dirt-cheap. The +1 to elemental gems makes it a nice place to stick your Molten Shell as well. You probably want a pair of these. Deodre's Tenure (no downside!), Aurseize Gauntlets, Maligaro's Virtuosity, and a nice set of rare gloves are all possible options as well. My current gear: Gems:
Spoiler
Staff: Cyclone-CastonCrit-Ice Nova-Shock Nova-Critical Strikes-(Life Leech) Body: CWDT1-Blade Vortex1-PCoC-Blind-(Increased AoE) Gloves: Vengeance-CastonCrit-Molten Shell-Increased Critical Strikes Boots: Blasphemy-Warlord's Mark-Assassin's Mark-Discipline (Swap for EleWeakness or Enfeeble when you get a 6L Staff) Helm: CWDT7-Chaos Golem 9-Immortal Call 9-Frost Bomb 1 You'll need 3 offcolors on your gloves and body. Use Vorici's "1 red" or "1 green" to roll these.
Spoiler
Flasks: Your flasks are VERY IMPORTANT, as they are the source of most of your evasion. All flasks should be rolled with Surgeon's, except for one life flask, which can be rolled with Bubbling or Seething. Life Flask 1 (Anti-Bleed) Life Flask 2 (Anti-Freeze) Stibnite Flask (Movement Speed) Jade Flask (Extra Evasion) Silver Flask or Sulphur Flask (Anti-Curse or Anti-Poison) Flask Strategy Stibnite only costs us 10 charges per use, so it doubles nicely as a movement potion for getting around maps. It also lasts just a tad longer than Jade, so we can pop it on our approach/between packs to keep our movement speed very high, and then pop Jade once we hit the pack. Silver Flask greatly increases our damage and movement speed. Use it if you want to burn down a tough mob, or just pop it because zipping around at 100+% movement speed between packs is fun as hell. :) If Life < MaxLife or you're bleeding or frozen, then use life flask. EZ-PZ. My Stats: Life/ES: http://imgur.com/ROPxy5H Evasion with Flasks: http://i.imgur.com/m3MFug3.png Melee crit: http://i.imgur.com/jAJgl1z.png Spell crit: http://i.imgur.com/hQa5LNP.png Questions? For those of you prefer a bit more of the "mad deepz", you can drop your chestpiece for a Voll's Protector, then make the following changes:
- Drop some ES nodes from witch and spec back into Vaal Pact - Pick that power charge back up This will put you at about 7-8k combined life and ES. In a 5L Voll's Protector, you'd want: CWDT 1 - Blade Vortex 1 - Bladefall 1 - Ethereal Knives 1 - PCoC In your staff, you want: CoC - Cyclone - Increased Crits - Ice Nova - Discharge - Empower With a +2 Staff, a lvl 21 Gem, and a level 4 Empower, you'll be throwing down level 26 Discharges at CoC speeds. This is essentially a staff-based Fakener variant. Our advantage is that we can devote our chestpiece *entirely* to power charge generation, and our staff entirely to spending them as efficiently as possible. Build updated with new gameplay videos, optimized skill tree.
-- Dropped Vaal Pact. With 5k+ ES you can sustain off WM/LL alone. -- Dropped a power charge. Made up for with Q20 CoC and ICS, so still crit-capped. -- Added Throatseeker and Foresight. -- Added bandits. Oops. :) -- Dropped Sovereignty. We only need 8% reduced reservation.
