About the Path of Exile Video Quest Guide
This guide is in two parts. 1. The written part, pretty much, documents my gameplay experience. There are many ways to progress through the game. This is just the "path" I took. 2. The videos cover one quest each and are not meant to be a video walkthrough. They are meant to show how to start a quest, perform the quest, complete the quest and collect your reward. Because of this, there is some editing going on and everything documented in the separate posts may not appear in the video. For example: The first quest in the game is not completed until you talk to Tarkleigh, in the Shore Encampment. However, when I first entered the town, I talked to Nessa first, which started a new quest before my previous quest had been completed. I then talked to Bestel, who updated the new quest description. Only then, did I talk to Tarkleigh, completing the first quest. I believe it will be less confusing if you look at the written as an adventure guide (or walkthrough if you prefer) and the video as a quest guide. (I'm giving you two guides for the price of one  )Summary of Quest Videos (links to the videos) In case you don't want to read through all the posts to find information on a particular quest, here is a list of the quest videos.
Path of Exile Video Quest Guide Act 1 Twilight Strand Includes entrances to: Shore Encampment. Has Waypoint starting in Cruel Difficulty. Pick up your weapon. Talk to the Dying Exile. Kill the Drowned. Head northeast up the beach. Quest started: Enemy at the Gate. Kill Hillock. Enter the Shore Encampment. Shore Encampment Includes entrances to: Terraces and Twilight Strand. (You cannot return to Twilight Strand, in Normal Difficulty, once you enter the Shore Encampment). Has Waypoint. Town. Talk to Nessa. Quest started: Mercy Mission. Optional: Talk to Bestel for more information on Mercy Mission. Collect Enemy at the Gate reward from Tarkleigh. Character’s Stash is located here. A nice addition to the Complete Quests Walkthrough. Decent video quality too. I like the PoE styled text in the very beginning.
Why do you kill Hillock and then fade out and back in at the entrance? You could easily kill Hillock and then run to the entrance causing less confusion on where to go next while saving time (more easily if you didn't back track through half the level to kill him. just kite around him and stay near the camp entrance). Also, why fade out and back in once you entered the camp? In the time it toook you to fade, you could have easily ran up to Tarkleigh from the entrance again causing less confusion. Great idea though, done properly this will turn out very well. |

The idea here is to cover only what is needed to show the viewer how the quests are started, where they take place and how they are completed. The written part should fill in the blanks, whereas the videos allow the viewer to experience some of the action. " This is a style I developed while video capturing Diablo II: LoD quest videos. I call them time-lapse videos. Hopefully, they keep the viewer from getting bored, watching me run all over large maps, picking up loot and adjusting my Inventory. All of which, really has nothing to do with the quest itself. This video was about killing Hillock, so I didn't want the quest concerning the Medicine Chest in it. In my actual gameplay I had talked to Nessa first and then Bestel. For this video, I edited that out and put it back in for the Mercy Mission quest video. " Thanks. Act 1 Terraces Includes entrances to: Tidal Island , Mud Flats and Shore Encampment. Clear this area for experience points (XP) and loot. Locate the entrances to Tidal Island and the Mud Flats. Enter Tidal Island. Tidal Island Includes entrances to: Terraces. Clear this area. Kill Vulatas, the Scavenger and retrieve the Medicine Chest. Return the Medicine Chest to Nessa in the Shore Encampment. Talk to Tarkleigh for your reward. Return to the Terraces and enter the Mud Flats. Act 1 Mud Flats Includes entrances to: Fetid Pool, Submerged Passage Level 1 and Terraces. Has Waypoint. Clear this area. Locate the entrances to the Fetid Pool and the Submerged Passage Level 1. Locate the three Rhoa Nests. Quest started: Breaking Some Eggs. Click on each of the Rhoa Nests and retrieve the Glyphs. Keep the three Glyphs in your Inventory. (This quest can also be started by taking the Mud Flats Waypoint to the Shore Encampment and talking to Tarkleigh about "Rhoas"). Optional: Enter the Fetid Pool. Return to the Mud Flats and go to the entrance for the Submerged Passage Level 1. With the three Glyphs from the Rhoa Nests still in your Inventory, click on the Strange Glyph Wall to unlock the entrance to the Submerged Passage Level 1. Talk to Tarkleigh for your reward. Quest started: The Dweller of the Deep. Return to the Mud Flats and enter the Submerged Passage Level 1. Fetid Pool Includes entrances to: Mud Flats. This is an optional area that is mostly unnavigable water. Clear this area for XP and loot. Act 1 Submerged Passage Level 1 Includes entrances to: Submerged Passage Level 2, Flooded Depths and Mud Flats. Has Waypoint. Clear this area. Locate the entrances to the Submerged Passage Level 2 and the Flooded Depths. Enter the Flooded Depths. Flooded Depths Includes entrances to: Submerged Passage Level 1. Clear this area. Kill The Deep Dweller. Return to Tarkleigh in the Shore Encampment for your reward. Return to the Submerged Passage Level 1 and enter the Submerged Passage Level 2. Act 1 Submerged Passage Level 2 Includes entrances to: The Ledge and Submerged Passage Level 1. Clear this area. Locate the entrance to The Ledge. Enter The Ledge. The Ledge Includes entrances to: The Rocky Climb and Submerged Passage Level 2. Has Waypoint. When you locate the Waypoint, return to the Shore Encampment and talk to Tarkleigh. Quest started: The Caged Brute. Return to The Ledge, locate the entrance to The Rocky Climb and enter. The Rocky Climb Includes entrances to: Lower Prison and The Ledge. Has Waypoint. Clear this area. Locate the entrance to the Lower Prison and enter. Lower Prison Includes entrances to: The Prison and The Rocky Climb. Has Waypoint. Clear this area. Locate the entrance to The Prison and enter. The Prison Includes entrances to: Upper Prison and Lower Prison. Clear this area. Locate the entrance to the Upper Prison and enter. Upper Prison Includes entrances to: The Prisoner’s Gate and The Prison. Clear this area. Locate Brutus and kill him. Talk to Tarkleigh for your reward. Return to the Upper Prison. Search the back room and loot the Large Chest. Locate the entrance to The Prisoner’s Gate and enter. Once you're done with this, you might want to put all info in a single thread, together with a map of all the zones.
Also you could include the quests rewards :) You might want to team up with the creator of the walkthrough if you want to create the ultimate guide :D |
