[2.1] [Talisman SC] Elemental Bladefall with a touch of poison (Evasion + Acro + Phase)
Hi So the major patch came out 3 weeks ago along with The Talisman League and a bunch of new skills. Bladefall is one of them. To be honest, it caught me by surprise how strong this skill is. I think it is one of the strong skills in the game right now. I dare to say that it is much stronger than Ethereal Knives and Blade Vortex, both of which are pretty similar to Bladefall. I have had a blasting experience with this skill and came up with kinda a original build that I want to share with you. Briefly this build uses poison, added fire and hatred to deal damage. It uses Evasion, Acrobatics and Phase Acrobatics as defensive mechanism and this, I think, is where this build shines and differs from other builds. I know some people don't like the idea of evasion because it's like putting your life on a dice roll but it's actually not that bad. Pros&Cons
Spoiler
Pros
-Very solid defense -Not really expensive -Easy to use(sometimes brainless)
Spoiler
Cons
-Not really HC viable due to the nature of evasion & dodge -Does not have the best clearing speed/damage out there -Can be expensive to gear towards late game (lvl>90) (Not Really) Stats

First off, I want to explain the build in brief. It is basically Bladefall with these.
So it deals fire and cold damage along with physical damage. Which will end up making it deal all sort of elemental damage. It is not really an elemental build but yeah you get the idea. I also link this skill with Poison. Poison is REALLY strong in this new patch. You can basically link this skill to anything and still deal an amazing amount of damage. It also gets double-dipped by increased physical damage. That means any physical damage node also increases poison damage and the physical damage itself. That is why I decided to put this on Bladefall. I am also planning to use Added Chaos Damage to further double dip my damage. I also use these to double dip my damage In short, My DPS with nothing on: 20k (5 link) With everything on: 44k Keep in mind that this is with a poison gem so the damage is potentially way higher than this. In terms of defensive capability, I've got to tell you this build is amazing. It is, so far, extremely solid and feels sometimes really broken to me. I will explain what my defensive mechanics are.
To be honest, I have never played an evasion build before, but this build really amazes me so far. First off I have a ton of evasion. Like A Ton. Specifically, as of now, I have 18k evasion with no auras on. With grace I have about 23k Evasion. This translates to approximately 63% chance to evade in tooltip. But in this build I don't really use Grace that often. So I only have 56% chance to evade but that's no problem because I use this instead This basically doubles my evasion which makes it 40k (more than 2x actually due to flask nodes). This translates to 73% chance to evade an attack. NOT SPELL. I will get to that later I also picked up Acrobatics and Phase Acrobatics which give me 40% chance to evade attack and 30% chance to evade spell. This amazingly synergies with evasion because it rolls on the same attack with evasion making you even less prone to take damage. I also have a shield on and use this flask. Which gives me in the end 36% chance to black an attack. This is not so much the highlight of the build because Acrobatics reduces block by 30% In the end and shortly, My chance to not take damage by an ATTACK is: 1 - 0.27*0.6*0.64 ~ 90% To put it differently, I take 90% less damage when fighting a pack with just flasks on which is almost all the time. Of course sometimes you get unlucky and a mob just 1 shots you, but it is really really rare. I have not died from a 1 shot so far. But in case I also have 4k HP and 3 Endurance charge and chaos golem on which together give me about 16% damage reduction. So even if the damage goes through it is hardly a one shot. This is however only with attack. I will explain my defense with spell too. As I said before I have picked on Phase Acrobatics which gives me 30% chance to evade a spell. This is indeed not much. But I have this boot right here. This gives me an extra 16% chance to dodge a spell which ends up making it 46% chance to dodge a spell. I also have some block chance but that's kinda irrelevant. Though the spell dodge is not as high as attack, we naturally have capped res which reduces the damage by 75% already so you can't expect more than that. I also have Warload's mark as a aura curse on and Vaal Pact so I have 2% instant life leech on hit. *In the future I am also thinking off getting a lightning coil and taste of hate which basically gives me extra 45% physical damage reduction. So to end it, I have, 4k life, about 90% chance to dodge an attack, and 46% chance to dodge a spell along with 75% res. Not impressed yet? Well go on to the next one.

I think the biggest highlight of this build is this right here.
This baby right here basically trivializes almost everything you can say. I basically face tank almost every single boss with this. It basically gives you 35% chance to dodge everything and it is addicative with our current stats. So it basically caps both my dodges. So with this on I have 95% chance to dodge a spell and 75% chance to dodge a spell which is a lot You basically turn this on and brainlessly face tank a boss easily. I faced tank Double Orchard Bosses and Residence Boss without taking any damage TL;DR

I tend to think of this build like a cheaper version of Ghudda's flask build
https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1404233 for reference. (I love Ghudda KappaPride) I basically take a few flask nodes and use this So I almost always have flasks on. However this build is not that reliant on flasks. They are important but not very essential. It's like water. You need it but not all the time. So basically my flasks are First 3 are very self-explanatory. Rumi's is not so much of a essential in this build. I just picked it up because it looks good on this build. I think a true replacement of this is a Taste of Hate which I am not sure if I should buy yet. Atziri's promise is very very good in this build because it double dips your damage, since it gives chaos damage which in turn boost the poison damage Skilltree

I actually don't know what to take after this. Probably another curse or something. Or extra evasion. I think this is up to you and your imagination after this. I don't have a full build yet. Also don't worry about the big strength node there you don't need it. Ever. Bandits

Oak-Alira/Skill-Oak/Skill or Alira if dual curse
Oak in normal because it is a life based build Alira in cruel if you think you don't need a skill point. Cast speed is pretty good on this build Oak in merciless for extra tankiness because we're gonna use Warload's Mark so we always have full endurance charges up, although you probably don't need it. Skill point is good too. Alira if you're planning to go dual curse and use Assassin's Mark Leveling
Spoiler
Very easy. You can level as a caster, using freezing pulse and flame totem until level 28. Then you can either continue using freezing pulse/ball lightning + flame totem or swap to bladefall right away. It is up to you. You should probably target the life nodes first. Then crit then evasion and poison/chaos.
Gears
Spoiler
In term of gears, I have very average gears. Aside from the chest which I bought for very cheap(30c), everything else can be bought for under 6 chaos. One of the ring is self-found but that's not really important you can replace it with anything with good res and life. Actually I want to highlight this chest armour. This really surprised me. It gives you a crap ton of evasion, good life and tri-res(albeit not really high) and MOVEMENT SPEED based on evasion. So you run a lot faster than normal character. With flasks on you can run even faster. This is why I didn't use Quicksilver and still have really high mobility. This with no link can be bought for like 1 fuse. Very very cheap. And you can run this build with a 4 link no problem. A perfect replacement for this is the Lightning Coil. This although gives much less evasion, it gives a crap ton of physical damage reduction. I think with this and a taste of hate you are literally indestructible against any physical mob/boss and reflects. Gems+Links
Spoiler
I change my links sometimes depending on the map mods. Importance is placed in least to most. For maps with no curse immunity: These 4 can me interchanged Auras Defensively You can use immortal call set up too but the colors can be hard to get on that helmet For mobility. This is not debatable. Maps with curse immunity: With Grace instead of Warload's Mark Video

" If you convert your physical damage you will deal less damage with poison (it scales off the physical and chaos damage you are dealing). Unless you go for an elemental build, unconverted physical damage works better in late game: Many mobs have capped elemental resistances, but only low armour. While the tooltip dps of a skill supported by physical to lightning will be higher, the actual ingame damage of unconverted physical damage will be higher due to the much lower mitigation of physical damage. |
