[1.4 - 2.0?] Rimefire

Thread in construction, just putting this up here to remind me to make the guide...

Plan is using The Consuming Dark, hopefully with a Bino as well (and perhaps the Troll Mantle, if using a Fire Spell), to gain massive regeneration as a spellcaster, as well as great damage.

Now, I *could* use a Fire Skill, but those aren't as fun as Cold Skills in my mind. Unless there's a new Fire Spell, perhaps?

So, plan is Cold-to-Fire + Avatar of Fire "Cold Caster". Freezing Pulse/Ice Spear/Arctic Breath should all work. Or perhaps without Avatar of Fire, so we can Shock with Herald of Thunder and maybe Added Lightning?

If I go with Arctic Breath or Ice Spear, the new Lioneye's Vision is probably best.

Now that Freezing Pulse no longer needs LMP, a Cold to Fire FP might be a good plan for this.

Won't work with avatar of fire, because it prevents you from dealing chaos damage. Either gotta use a fire spell or pyre.

Hmm, true. I still prefer Pyre over a Fire Spell so far, though. No need for Cold to Fire in that case.

Not sure, need to try. But if so, if you're not CI (and you can't use RF + CI together), you will melt your own face off...

Ended up doing the build with a Flame Surge as a main skill. Feels like a melee caster, tanky as hell, but clear speed suffers from the AoE. Will update tomorrow.

In short:
Chest = 5L Infernal Mantle
Weapons = Consuming Dark + Bino

Tree Passives of note:
ZO, MoM (optional)

Result:
4.5K Life, 1.5K ES that regens with Bino. If using MoM, an additional 700 mana (but beware the low-mana penalty from Infernal Mantle!)

100% Fire to Chaos Damage (and some Lightning Damage for Shock) (and HEAVY damage, at that), Super-fast Whirling Blades + Fortify.

5L = Flame Surge / Spell Echo / Added Lightning / Added Chaos / PCoC. Crit Damage is probably better than Added Chaos, just need to get one 19/20.
Chest 1L = Clarity

4L = CwDT / War Mark / Increased Duration / Enduring Cry or Rallying Cry (self-cast when I need it).
4L = HoT / CoH / Ass Mark / War Mark
4L = Flame Golem / Chance to Ignite / Fire Pen / Proliferation
3L (with +1 Fire) = Fire Trap / Increased AoE / Vaal Molten Shell
3L = Whirling Blades / Faster Attacks / Fortify
