How to potato my graphics?

Hello PoE community!

I play PoE on an old 2010 crap Intel integrated graphics laptop and have serious problems when it comes to frame rate and the like. I've looked around the forums a bit, and om Google, and have found ways to do this (you know, the Runescape-esque graphics quality) but can't seem to figure out it works. Would anyone be willing to explain why?

Also, if this thread is in the wrong forum, a Mod is free to move it to the designated forum for these issues.

:D nice way of putting it.

There is a file in a difrent location that your game folder called production_Config.ini open that with a text editor and change the texture value from what ever it's at to anything between 2 to 10 and you to can enjoy the uber graphical awesomness that is

Hmm.. I'll have to try that again. I think that that is what I had tried, but my game wouldn't load afterwards. Any idea if full-screen or windowed mode makes a difference?

Think thats really down to prefrence...i've never seen a diffrence between the 2 performance wise and depending on who you ask you'll get answeres that on or the other gives in incresed performance.

The only things you really need to worry about is texture quality, frames per second(use vsync) and shadows.

Also with act 4 there is supposed to be some performance fixes maybe even a particle density slider but we'll wait and see how that goes.

In my exp on my old laptop i found windowed mode helped me out alot!!
Your framerate should be alot better in windowed mode! but if you are running on a very old computer then setting the texture quality on about 10 and playing in windowed mode with Vsync OFF (IF i remeber correctly mine MIGHT have been ON i would have to fire up my laptop to check) and everything turned off is about the best your gonna get!

NOTE: Make sure you change all those options BEFORE you change the texture quality in the file! once you change the number on your texture quality if you change ANY options in the options menu it will automatically revert the texture back to 1 everytime! \m/

Another thing you can do that helps with load times is put -gc2 beside you shortcut path when you right click the shortcut and go into properties! you can also go further with this by going with -gc3!
This is mainly only helpful if you dont have an SSD!

vsync should be on it limits the FPS to 60 or 30 depending on how bad your GFX card is having it off only lets it run wild outputting FPS over the refresh rate that you won't see which can cause over heating when it can...when you then look at the FPS graph it'll show wild spikes because of it.

I'll +1 lagwin here on the benefits of Vsync, especially for laptops - but I'll go one step further and recommend a graphics tool like MSiAfterburner - not only does it allow you to lock your FPS at your desired setting, but it will also give you the option to monitor temps and loads.
