Always show item level? It could be less ''busy work''
The sooner that significant segment learns of its existence and learns to use it the better, for them. Arguing that a useful feature for late game is 'confusing newbs' is just silly in a game of this complexity, they are either willing to learn or their life span in here won't be of much length. Put it in options, hell put it in config file whatever, it can't take THAT much dev time to add 1 more text box somewhere for everyone but people completely new...
I'd argue it is important to show it for them way more than steamlined interface, so when they hover over they get explanation of why their item won't roll x amount of sockets before wasting orbs they don't have in abundance, as the losses are more significant to them (and its more frustrating), but thats me. |

This point really illustrates how casual gamers need to be spoon fed where more committed gamers have time to learn the intricacies. Hard to balance accessibility and depth I imagine.

Would be good if there was a toggle to show item level, off by default. It confuses new players so it should be hidden. End game crafting and item trading to an extent require knowing item level. Don't want to buy something like searing touch that dropped "in merciless" to find out it's ilvl is only 43, and you can't know with certainty without having the item and using /itemlevel.
Buuuut then you have the problem with WoW in a way. Noobs only look at ilvl and so an awesome piece of loot will be discarded because it isn't "leet" enough, or there is the bragging about ilvl of gear which is retarded. I don't think that will be a major problem but I get the feeling this is part of the reason GGG have kept it hidden. |

" I totally agree. Though I think PoEs "general player base" is not that "easily confused"... I mean, if they were, they won´t play this game for long, will they? Anyways, it´s a good idea. I support this (though this doesn´t mean sh*t; who cares for some random dudes support after all). regards Hold on to yer shite load o´ bloody barnacles on me arse-cockles, me hearty!

" Itemlevel was intended to eventually display on items (recalling this from an HC global conv with one of the devs about 6 months ago), they just hadnt gotten round to implimenting it yet. Unlikely its high priority though. IGN: KoTao

" If WOW kiddies can figure it out, I doubt POE players will have issues. It's not exactly complicated. |
