So about... instance resetting.

I've been playing this game for like 2 or 3 days, and I must admit, I like it. It has some interesting ideas, and as a fan of the hack'n'slash genre (and being completely braindead after all the exams I've had had in the past month), I enjoyed the last couple of days spent on the game. However, here's something that pisses me off so damn hard that it's already happened to me a couple of times that I almost uninstalled the game/threw my monitor out of the window.

Most of the time it was on normal difficulty, so it was sort of fine. But now that I'm playing on Cruel difficulty, and after one hour of hard work was just in vain due to this silly thing, the only thing I can say is: enough.

So after this long prologue I think we should get to the point. As the title states, my complaint is about the way instance-resetting works. It's definitely cool that they reset time to time, you don't need to relog or anything, if you want to go through one. However, the way it currently works is that instances that are "linked together", like different levels of an instance, are handled separately. This makes it so that if you spend for example 10 minutes on the second level of an instance that has a waypoint on its first level and you die, you'll have to go through the whole first level again, and most likely restart the second one as well. Given how damn huge instances tend to be later on, it's really time-consuming and frustrating.

So, my suggestion is: instances that are linked together should be handled together. The whole "instance-chain" should reset after 8-15 minutes of emptiness of the entire instance. This way, if you wipe when Mervail has 2% HP left (like I did) and forget to use the portal scroll, you don't need to restart the whole instance from the beginning/propably lose most of your XP trying to get back, ignoring all the smaller bosses.

Thoughts?

This change should most definitely be made.

On the subject of instance resetting, it's also very very frustrating when you spend some time to clear a one-level dungeon and when you get outside THE WHOLE AREA IS RESET...

PLEASE, don't reset the related maps when we are inside dungeons!!! If we are fighting in the second level of a dungeon, do NOT reset its first level nor the outside map!

Also, either triple the time a portal stays open (including after a disconnect), or simply don't reset the map of the are where we happen to die, together with its other included areas. It's incredibly frustrating right now to have to start over.
+1 to the original post.

To the last post .. ehh, they kinda have to reset the "outside" maps if they're really separate. The original point was to connect areas of one location that share but one waypoint. Like the prisons.

Totally agree! This and keep the TP open as long as the instance is open, so that disconnects don't screw you so much.

Really, take the instance suggestions seriously! This will massively improve the gaming experience. Oh, and how about you DON'T make it random? Just make it 10 minutes or whatever. That way we can predict it for crap-breaks and whatnot.

Totally agree with this. I've seen lots of posts requesting this but haven't seen a response from a Dev. Would love to know if this is in the works, or never going to happen, so we can at least stop asking! :)
I wish there was just a flat 30 minute reset timer and you could ctrl click a waypoint or zone entrance to reset the zone.

This timer and function would eradicate many player complaints. I know, I know, it puts a higher load on the servers. But other games save your zone progress for a lot longer, so why can't this one? Money permitting of course.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul...

OOOOr if you see you keep dying like a (pro) how about opening a TP at every instance that way you wont have to run all the way back. So i dont see the problem.

I agree partially. I think they should increase time for instance to reset to like 30 minutes, because right now it resets too often. If you want to farm the same instance over and over you can still reset it manually so it wouldn't be a problem ;)

About DC and losing progress and other issues with progression here's my a bit similar suggestion: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/96012
