This is a little ironic coming from a game that really pushes players to rely so heavily on 3rd party content to exist. :D

i hate this idea that game dev's are somehow responsible for catering to the emergent meta of how people choose to crowd source/play the game. TFT, third party progs... not a single one of them is "needed" Not even the Wiki.

GGG is not and should never be responsible for helping players meta game.

At some point you guys aren't even gamers any more... you're instruction followers the same way coloring book and paint by numbers artists are. You're short cut/cheese/guide observers more than gamers. I don't know where exactly that point is, but I'm pretty sure "needing" third party apps and discord crowd sourcing to play the game is in the close vicinity of "just a follower of directions"

I'm new to PoE and I don't think 3rd party programs are needed. However GGG is responsible for implementing a loot filter in the game. On consoles for examples the game is unplayable without a loot filter, same on PC.

I downloaded the basic loot filter and when I got to higher quantity breach maps my screen was flooded with loot and half of it was unclickale.

edit: bruh wtf this thread is from 2013

Thread necromancey! but you aren't the only one, I think my comment was a follow on to someone elses necro.

Yeah anyway loot filters not being their by default is dumb if GGG can't control their loot system enough and they've shown they can't.

Thing is its EA/beta so rough edges and all that. But I agree if they make a problem like dumb loot locked screens (I've seen them as well) then they need to provide tools or fix the problem by controlling their loot system.

The runway loot conditions in POE1 and now 2 have always been about new game designers not understanding how to scope the math of their game. This is not an insult just blunt honesty. Allow compounding feedback loops and your players will have dumpsters of junk on their screen and your game will look kinda dumb and need a filter to be included to fix the dumbness of your uncapped uncontrolled parameters. If dumb dumspters of loot is considered a "feature" then embed a default filter and make a UI for it like say Last Epoch.
Pandering to players who don't want consequences for their mistakes is a perfect description of what went fundamentally wrong with D3 and 4.
So now that we know tencent is doing it, double gaining the game, what are you going to do about it?

Who benefits? Tencent.

I'll never believe there is an RMT crowd or dollar sign out there large enough to justify state level hacking of a video game this size.

Games like Everquest, WoW and FF14 solved this issue Long ago, its called a in game market board. Idk why GGG over complicates this for players putting people at risk to add "friction" to their game. It seems so stupid to me, then again I watched JR talk in circles for 5 mins saying how "hard" it would be to add a "target dummy" to the game so players could actually easily test whats broken.

Even if they wanted to add "friction" you could still add a market board IN GAME and add a token system or something so players have to complete a map to get a token and allow for 1 traded item per one token from completed map. That way players actually have to play the game and not only play the market.

This antiquated D2 relic of a system needs to stop, its unfair , unpractical and opens players up to BS from lost accounts. Feels like complete laziness on the Devs part to me or maybe even arrogance.

If you make a game you should facilitate whats needed to play that game. Look to 11th Hour games they handled trade good, they handled their loot filter needs for their community. Wake up Samurai!!!
Chris and GGG is lying to you in this post.

THESE CURRENCY SELLERS IDLE IN TRADE GET YOUR TRADE ID AND PUT IT INTO THIER ACCOUNT WHICH LETS THEM LOG ON TO YOUR ACCOUNT.

Pretty sure it was band aide fixed for now.

Also GGG supports currency sellers, and bots. The whole game is built around this. They never ban any of the main currency sellers and that is why, when you want to trade for say Divines a currency seller will have 4k divines and set the prices. Drop rates and everything is based of all the china bots farming 24/7.

Maybe because this post is from over a decade ago?

Isn't there a far simpler solution?

You are a big company, should be easy enough to do.

Step 1: Add 2 factor auth.

There is no step 2.

99% of stealing accounts will be gone if you make it mandatory.

EDIT: Ok the post is from 2013, now it makes sense :P
