[1.3] Punishment+CWDT Templar Build Log
New Thread
Updates
1-Switched back to cyclone because physical to lightning exists. The aoe is worse than static strike which is basically 1 hit then kaboom. I actually have some single target damage now however, and gameplay feels overall smoother.
2-Switched back to Static Strike... While I don't like the playstyle as much as cyclone, the overall clearspeed is much higher do to the higher proc frequency. 3-Build is currently on hold. General clearing is good, but I really need much higher attack damage to progress the build. This requires an investment which I don't consider to be worth it at the moment. Using the currency to roll a different build, but I may revisit this in the future. Do to the proc-rate issue I believe this type of build could be better suited to a marauder, or even a shadow. They have better starting nodes for attack-based builds.
Build Concept
This is a Shackles of the Wretched build, using self cast punishment + a melee attack to trigger spells linked with CWDT. The concept has been around pretty much since these gloves were released afaik, but few people play it because:
1. You kill yourself. 2. It's worse than CoC. So with that out of the way... My original idea was to use cyclone as my attack, and have most of my damage be elemental in order to outheal the self-damage, while at the same time getting the highest amount of cwdt procs possible due to cyclones rapid hit rate. The reflect would then trigger molten shell and arc, proliferating ignite and shock to all enemies on screen. After some testing, I've currently settled on static strike+molten shell+discharge. On top of requiring blood magic to sustain the mana, you need A LOT of elemental damage to outheal the physical reflect with cylone. The damage conversion on static strike makes it easy to not kill yourself, molten shell simply does a lot of damage and gains chance to ignite per% quality making it ideal for prolif, discharge is discharge.

Mace was purchased for 1c, then I added flat phys for another 1c with vagan. Saffel's is fairly important as reflected damage can normally be blocked. With saffel's+RT I ensure that all of my physical hits are reflected back to me. The alternative is to use a 2h mace which I have not tested, but I plan on switching to a well rolled phys doryani's scepter eventually. Recently added romira's which roughly doubles my average damage with discharge. Planning to get additional power charges as the ring makes it extremely easy to cap. Other planned changes are just some %weapon ele and all around straight upgrades. Oh, and getting 4 red on my carcass jack+ a 6l (never happen too poor).
