A guide has been posted here which covers general aspects and strategies of racing.

A summary of Time based events:

Timed based events are new type of event introduced in Race Season 9, they are designed to create a new kind of competitive environment where players compete not by character experience, but by their capabilities to progress through the game and complete specific objectives, such as killing bosses.

The boss required to be defeated for this race is: Piety, located in Lunaris Temple Level 3.

  • The time recorded is based from the beginning of the race, not when your character is created.
  • Characters will not appear on the ladder until they have completed the objective.
  • Characters are not required to have completed the time based objective in order to receive points for the other objectives, such as points awarded for reaching certain levels.
  • Characters who die after completing the objective, will still be counted for receiving reward points except for the level-specific prizes.
  • Points are awarded at the end of the race, do not delete your characters until they have been moved to the permanent leagues.

Arrived 10 mins late, got rolled back from ledge to mud flats and went from lvl 4 to 3 (leaving me without flasks until i re-leveled), found corrupted zones in prison and anger then topped it off by getting instagibbed to an exile/onslaught box.

Good times all round

Wasn't gunning for Piety but got further than I've ever done before in a race, and that's even with taking a 45 minute break in the middle.

Some not bad items just missing a few really good things to kick them into overdrive. I also found 2 chaos and 1 vaal orb which is pretty cool but haven't had a unique drop for some time now :(

One thing I noticed playing LT Templar is that although you get access to some good skills early on, by about level 20 I've run out of things to do to improve my damage and the next nearest nodes are some way off. I might reserve Templar for shorter races and pick a different class next time. Ahh... that would be 2am tomorrow. Yeah, that's not gonna happen :)

Happy RNG everyone!
