A guide has been posted here which covers general aspects and strategies of racing.

A summary of Time based events:

Timed based events are new type of event introduced in Race Season 9, they are designed to create a new kind of competitive environment where players compete not by character experience, but by their capabilities to progress through the game and complete specific objectives, such as killing bosses.

The boss required to be defeated for this race is: The Vaal Oversoul, located in The Ancient Pyramid.

  • The time recorded is based from the beginning of the race, not when your character is created.
  • Characters will not appear on the ladder until they have completed the objective.
  • Characters are not required to have completed the time based objective in order to receive points for the other objectives, such as points awarded for reaching certain levels.
  • Characters who die after completing the objective, will still be counted for receiving reward points except for the level-specific prizes.
  • Points are awarded at the end of the race, do not delete your characters until they have been moved to the permanent leagues.

Random Prizes:
Reward points earned in this race grant tickets in a random draw for the following items:
  • Alternate Art Fencoil Unique Item (15 available to be won)
  • Alternate Art Topaz Ring Item (25 available to be won)
  • Alternate Art Pyre Unique Item (30 available to be won)
  • Alternate Art Rumi's Concoction Unique Item (10 available to be won)
I fought Fidelitas at level 15.

With a mallet.

That has literally NEVER happened to me before. But apparently it was good enough!
Made 3 attempts at this race and they all ended with a desync death. I'm done with racing this season. I was hoping to get the Rumi's but that's not going to happen. This season was terrible. I did not enjoy most races and died in places I had never died in before due to mob placement, desync, and other random crap. The races were not fun and mostly boring. See you all next season.
Spoiler

got DC twice during the race, once it was in the end of old fields, and another time in the end of vaal ruins - so I had to re-run forest+ruins1+ruins2. Lost around 10min due to ISP troubles but still made it #5 marauder. Oh, I also miss-read "cleared Dread Thicket" as "first to enter" so I rushed into that as I was leaping nearby hoping to get those extra points. Surprisingly nothing popped when I cleared it so I understood :)

Lvl 18 vaal kill, okay a1, brutal a2

no poleaxe for vaal

Stupidly decided to skip tidal island and never found a quicksilver the whole race. The transmutes, rustics and bases kept dropping so my DPS was fine, which meant I could take Clerity after Point Blank to squeeze a bit more movement out of the build (rather than take Forces of Nature like I normally do).

All up, 7th ranger which was a lot better than I was expecting

ms off mule, sold it on main... Kappa
think i done vaal at 18 or 19, got frozen in the temple before the apex, almost died there. lucky i had this thing

Dayman.
