class question.

Is a summoning type class going to be in the game in some form?

We haven't announced details of the other four character classes, but we can confirm there are summoning skills for all three attributes (Strength, Dexterity and Intelligence).

Any character class could specialise in summoning, though the method would differ from class to class.

I like the idea that everyone can conjure up some sort of sidekick, but this worries me a little. I hope you don't fall into the trap where every class become the same at high levels!
yeah...i'm a wh@$#... www.carbontheory.com
even if everyone maxed summoning i would guess that a str based and int based summoner would play alot different.

any word on when we might hear about the rest of the playable classes?
The real question is should the game be a stat distribution base game or auto stats.

if there is already a warrior, knight or barbarian and it is stat distribution. They are already over-powered, and I like it

It is a kind of stat distribution. When you level you spend points on your passive skill tree, the skills in that correspond to the attributes, and when you choose a skill your character gets some of that attribute. They will release something official on this soon I'm sure.
Zephyroth is right - the attributes come from allocating points in the passive skill tree. It's briefly visible in the exclusive PCGamer trailer (link is on the news page).

Players don't just choose whether they want Strength, Dexterity or Intelligence when they level up, but choose an exact passive skill that grants them the attribute bonus in addition to the passive itself. Investing in skills aligned with the class in question is rewarded with more of that attribute.

For example, a Marauder would get 7 points of strength for putting a point in a strength passive skill (such as increased stun duration, or higher damage with maces). He'd get only 3 dexterity if he put that point in a passive dexterity passive skill.

There are low-hanging-fruit skills in all the passive skills that encourage players to splash a few points in the other attributes to get easy bonuses.

We'll be writing about this in more detail in the near future.

And that is what I'm hoping for. Awesome!!
Maybe the 6 Class will be a summoning one...

Either that and I just summoned a old thread from the Depths of Hell!
Hmm... What should I write here?

Read the first DEV post, every class will have summoning skills, so there will be no summoner class.

You just brought back to life an very old thread, I can not support that!
By the way Spazzfish there are some informations about classes here: http://www.pathofexile.com/classes/
