[1.2] A little monster - dual Hyaon's Fury & Herald of Thunder
Hello guys and welcome to my guide „A little Monster – dual Hyaon’s Fury” At first I want to give credits & probs to a good friend of mine Tobi, with whom I created the basic idea about this build. Good job dude! Our aim was to figure out a character around this nice endgame sword: The title of the build was chosen because of a track which I´ve felt in love during the time I created this build. So if you´re open for some music, just listen to it while reading my guide: https://soundcloud.com/royalblooduk/little-monster-1 UPDATE 1.2.4: Herold of Thunder synergices perfect with this build, it rocks hard. At the moment I level this gem and try to figure out wich add gems work out the best way. It's a hugh buff... Onced its leveled, I will include it to my guide! Introduction
Spoiler
At first I researched for some builds or ideas in the web around these swords and noticed, that everyone who tried to use them failed and gave up. Many people did not even tried to use them and ignored this item by saying that the base type of the sword with only 5% crit and a low attack speed is shitty and that every high aps 1h sword with some flat elemental stats is more usefully for an elemental build. In the case that you want to aura stack (Anger, Wrath and Haste) in an Alpha’s Howl helmet like many common elemental-spectral throw builds do, you’re right. But in this build we won’t do aura stacking and use the elemental power in another way!
The other point about this sword, why many people gave up or didn’t even try to use it, is the drawback of the stat “6% increased Damage taken per frenzy charge”. If you try to stack frenzy charges, you get a lot of increased damage from all sources and it’s hard to compensate it. But I will show you, how to do it and use this sword to its full potential! What does Piety says in the crematorium??? “Enough of this!” She’s perfectly right, enough about the introduction. Now I want to show you an absolute endgame available build, which provides you with fast clearspeed in maps and much fun to play. The build idea
Spoiler
This build focus around dual wielding two Hyaon’s Fury swords, stacking up to 6-7 frenzycharges, a very high amount of evasion and dodge chance and a moderat chance to crit around 30%. You will sustain life and mana with the Poachers Mark Curse. This will also be your frenzycharge generator! One frenzycharge will give you the following stats when you dual wield Hyaon’s Fury:
24% increased lightning damage, 5% attackspeed, 4% increased evasion rating, 12% increased damage taken With 7 frenzycharges up, you will get: 168% increased lightning damage, 35% attackspeed, 28% increased evasion rating, 84% increased damage taken This are really awesome stats to have but the 84% increased damage taken can break ya neck (hi Busta Rhymes) very fast. That’s why you want to get hit as less as possible and stack evasion and dodge chance. You want to have maxresist and a good amount of life, because if you get hit you don’t want to die directly. Moreover, you will provide yourself with some “death-prevention-mechanics” like the “Cast on damage taken + endurance cry + Immortal call” setup and the rarely used Starkonja's Head item: If you get hit by some mobs or a hard hitting rare/uniq mob and drop to lowlife (<35% life), you will get 50% increased global evasion rating. This means that the chance to get hit again before you’re back to full life is very very low. To clear up, “50% reduced Damage when on low life” means, that you will do 50% less damage on low life, but you will be back to full life very fast and don’t have to care about this stat too much. Last but not least, your crit chance will be around 25-30% and this is mainly used to shock and freeze the enemies. You will use spectral throw with lmp and thereby have a high chance that one of you projectile will freeze and/or shock them. In addition, crit will increase your damage by a nice amount. The shock status will increase your overalldamage by 50% and the freeze status provides you with a useful kind of croudcontrol. The Skilltree

You can either start as Ranger or as Shadow, doesn’t matter at all!
Actually tree with 94 skillpoints https://poebuilder.com/character/AAAAAgIAm40ILtN-xKK74_66fXVW-u4O73pKfYd2Z6D8xRGB3UZjpwAGYnkV9k4qW6_dDTqzWhq2QSyF1op_K3fXUUcwfI2_-uteRZLzWHV0oAaiF9wGIE2SI_aNfb3mPs8FtTpCS3jdqDBx1CPC7KXLDPJtbLVI8-oqC3BScNWJ0x9BBiMWvwMeVUth4iaVjDblGbQ4RXyXl_v1Nj2dqmKsbIynNMCc44QOSBGWGdetM5OVAdGv66SRE54AXhmO7YOQCg== for skilltree progression during levelling, have a look to the leveling tips section! The Gear
Spoiler
For detailed information about these swords, read the Introduction part. They are endgame drops, and should normally cost some exalts. But actually no one uses them, that’s why they are very cheap. I bought an almost perfect one for 25chaos. Maybe if some people try out my build, the price for them will increase!? Starkonja's Head gives nice offensive and defensive stats and is a part of the “death-prevention-mechanics”. Also not used very often and that’s why they are still cheap! The offensive alternative is Rat's Nest. If you feel save and want to add some damage, go for it! Provides us with high % evasion, life, resists and a nice amount of movement speed. Running fast in town is awesome! At first I played with 4l without problems. Getting a 5l or 6l will add a nice amount of damage. Adds some nice offensive stats and some evasion. You can get some midrange rolls for ½ exalt Just the best boots for the build. High evasion, life, movementspeed and the 16% chance to dodge spells. And they are very cheap… Perfectly at all! The most important thing you want to have on your Rings, Amulet and Belt are resistance. You have to get maxresi with this items!!! Life and elementaldamage with weapons are also very nice stats. Crit chance and multi are ok, but not so important. I bought all these stuff for around 25 chaos… All in all I spend around 3-4 exalts for all my gear. The gear is endgame stuff, but do to the fact that elemental damage builds are not so famous these days, items are less expensive. The Gems
Spoiler
The main skill for groups. With ST you have a ranged attack and you remember that you don’t want to get hit very often! You throw out multiple projectiles and have a nice change to shock and freeze the mobs. For taking out single mobs or rares. If you crit with 7 frenzycharges up, you destroy almost everything! Just don’t level this gem and keep it at low mana costs! You have to apply this curse to almost every mobgroup for mana and life on hit and frenzychargegeneration. You can link it with Increased area of effect/faster casting/reduced mana/bloodmagic, whatever you want. A part of your “death prevention mechanic”. Use one version with a low level cast on damage taken with endurance cry and a higher leveled one with Immortal Call + Increased duration. Sadly Vaal Grace doesn’t work with cast on damage taken. The auras you use: Grace adds very much evasion is mandatory to this build. The buff of Herold of Ice doe to the last patch adds a nice amount of flat cold damage for chilling and freezing the mobs. It scales with your elemental damage. The iceexplosion mechanic is also awesome in large mobgroups and got buffed with the last patch, too. You will need the rest of the mana for you attacks. Adding Wrath would be great, but there’s no mana left and it requires almost 150 int, which you don’t get easly. Whirling blades is a good movementskill to get out of trouble situations and synergizes very well with ST. You can link it with faster attacks and/or reduced mana The Bandits

Spoiler
At the beginning I leveled with different melee phys damage weapons, ST and Molten Strike. With lvl 35 you should get 2 Mightflay daggers. With lvl 50 I bought some cheap 1h ele swords which I’ve used till I was able to use Hyaon’s Fury Swords (lvl62). You can also specc some melee phys damage nodes and or crit dagger nodes and then respecc once you start using ele swords.
I also used Foxshade Leather as Armor, Blooddance Boots and Meginord’s Gridle Belt 20 skillpoints

40 skillpoints 60 skillpoints (start using ele damage swords and respecc the phys damage nodes (“Weapon Atristy and Aspect of Panther” at ranger)) 80 skillpoints actual tree with 94 skillpoints Videos

Maybe you also want to create a little monster!? If you have any questions or ideas, just ask me. I hope we get a nice discussion here! I will be travelling during October around Argentina and not be able to play Path of Exile, but I will check the forum daily and response to everything as good as I can. Wouldn't you net higher dps with a wrath aura instead of the Herald of Ice... I get you are probably using it for the freeze effect for an increase in defense. I just feel like you could min/max the build more if you ditch the unique chest, helm, and boots. Perhaps even switch out those boots for blood dance with the right rolls 7% life regen and more chance to create frenzy charges for some dps lost and if you get more resists from helm and chest by going with rares instead of uniques you could get lightning damage and weapon ele damage on rings and amulets. Couple that with the Wrath aura and maybe a lightning based Doryiani's and your build could max out higher.
Another option for defense could be a Lightning Coil and ditch having unique boots all together. Also spell echo doesn't work on CwDT. Besides that nifty build with a unique weapon I haven't seen used much. Last edited by DarkHeart69#3094 on Oct 5, 2014, 7:56:38 PM

" thanks for your input. I was away cause of travelnig and I didnt not had internetconnection every time. Anyway now I m back and will improve my build. I will think about your gearchoices, but right now I will figure out to add Herold of thunder in the best way, cause it rocks with this build :) " I have absolutly no problems with magic reflect mobs! |
|
When you leave the ranger area you have 3 nodes that don't benefit your spectral throw at all. Its the melee phys and melee attack to the left of Finesse. I would recommend either taking the projectile damage at the upper ranger part, or taking the evasion/life as you leave ranger start.
Other than that looks good. I hope everything continues to work. |

" thanks for that info, it was just a mistake I made at the buildplaner. Now the skilltree is correctly updated! I just leveld Herold of Thunder to lvl 15 and linked it with increased aoe + reduced mana and it does alot of damage with 7 frezny charges up (168% lightning damage). I try to get some Thundesfist gloves and sockel it with HoT + lightning pen + increased aoe + reduced mana... I will record some video onced I´ve tested it |
